That is it! The hosts take the lead but West Indies would love to square things up as these two meet again at 'The Gabba' on the 25th of this month. A Pink ball Test match. Join us at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT). Join us early for the build-up. Cheers!

Pat Cummins says it was a great Test match. Adds the ball was nipping across but Travis Head made the difference. Ends by appreciating the efforts of Josh Hazlewood. Adds Josh got it done in just one spell.

Kraigg Brathwaite says his bowlers did really well but the batters didn't get enough runs. Shares it was important for few players to get the feel of Test cricket, it is important to get some experience and learn from this game. On Shamar Joseph, he is full of energy, great future and can score runs as well.

Travis Head wins the Player of the Match award! He says the pitch was challenging but it was nice to get some runs. Adds the crowd was really great and hopes they enjoyed the action.

...Presentation next...

For West Indies, Shamar Joseph was the find of the game. Not just the way he bowled but he has shown great capabilities and definitely has a great future ahead. To some extent, even Kirk Mckenzie had a good game but West Indies definitely need a couple of changes going into the next game.

It was all about Josh Hazlewood then, he ran through the Windies batting top order and ended with a fifer. At one stage an innings defeat looked on the cards but the tail ensured that wasn’t the case. They helped Windies get into the lead but that was a slender one as Starc was on point this morning. Just 26 is what the Aussies needed and they knocked it off quickly. Chasing such a low score, it was convincing from the Aussie openers to get the job done.

In reply, Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shamar Joseph was the pick for the Windies. At one time, it seemed the Aussies wouldn’t be getting a lead of over 30 but it was Travis Head who smashed a brilliant ton and helped his side take a lead of just under 100. His 7th Test ton, the way he played turned out to be a big difference between the two teams.

The game ends how we thought it would, a massive win for the Aussies. They just seem unbeatable at the moment. Right from Day 1, they dominated the game, not all but most of the sessions. They managed to bowl the Windies out for a very low score. Hazlewood and Cummins were the star with four each. Chasing such a low score, it was convincing from the Aussie openers to get the job done.

...THE CHASE...

So, Australia need 26 runs to win. Should be an easy chase for them. Joshua Da Silva was the last known batter out in the morning but he was removed quickly by Mitchell Starc. Alzarri Joseph, Roach and Shamar Joseph added a few more runs and made sure at least this game went to the fourth innings. Josh Hazlewood ended with a five-wicket haul while Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc ended with two each. Back for the chase quickly...

35.2W

OUT! STUMPED! That is it! This is full and outside off, spins away. Joseph comes down the track and swings but fails to connect. The keeper makes no mistake. Out it is! West Indies are bowled out for 120.

35.10

Drinks! West Indies have successfully survived the first hour of the day. They are into the lead and Australia have to come out to bat. The result is certain but just seeing the final partnership for West Indies bailing them out again is so brilliant. The question is how much these two can add more?

Commentary

Back with the action. Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul to open for the Windies. Mitchell Starc to bowl first.

...Third Innings...

Now then! West Indies need a good opening stand to lay the foundation. They have a lot of time but Australia will have their tail up. They will look for wickets straightaway. Let's see if West Indies can end Day 2 without any bumps.

Australia lost Green right in the start of Day 2 but the man of the hour, Travis Head batted brilliantly to get his 7th ton in the Test match. Despite losing wickets, he played his aggressive game and got the deficit cut out. The tail didn't add much as West Indies were consistent enough to take wickets regularly. Shamar Joseph as told before, ended with five wickets on his debut while Justin Greaves and Kemar Roach ended with two each.

A kiss on the badge as Shamar Joseph leads his team out with the red-cherry in his hand. What a moment for the debutant. A five-fer against a prime Aussie team is what you always dream of. So, Australia have added around 23 runs and have ended with a lead of 95 runs. Recap of what happened quickly - The idea to open with Steven Smith didn't work this time as Shamar Joseph got the big wicket on his very first ball. He followed it with the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne as well. Usman Khawaja was dropped on 3 in the slips and he went onto make 45 runs.

81.1W

OUT! BOWLED! On a length and around off, swings in late. Cummins tries to drive it straight but leaves a big gap open for the ball to travel. It crashes the stumps. Australia are bowled out for 283.

Commentary

Usman Khawaja gives a pat on Smith's back as the two Aussie openers stride out in the middle. Really fascinating to see how this works out, Smith to take the strike, four slips in place. Here is Kemar Roach with the new red cherry.

...Second innings...

Now, it is time for Australia to see out the remaining overs of the day. How will David Warner and Usman Khawaja play....oops, sorry! This has been the habit of the last decade or so. A new opening pair for Usman Khawaja, time for Smith, the opener to step out...

More than Aussies bowling, it was the inexperience of West Indies which was on the card. The rookie players found it difficult to play both Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins who ended with four wickets each. It felt like West Indies will get rattled inside 150 but Joseph and Roach added 55 valuable runs.

So, just the 11 runs added by the last pair but what a partnership it was between Joseph and Roach. It was a bit frustrating for Australia but they have dominated the first day so far. Australia asked the inexperienced Windies side to bat first and the openers did really well to play out the new ball. The openers didn't add much but it was Kirk Mckenzie who scored a fine fifty. Australia though got their tails up in the second session as they cleared the middle order pretty quickly.

62.1W

OUT! LBW! Joseph has been given out LBW but he reviews it. No bat clearly on this one, confirms Snicko. Ball Tracking shows it is umpire's call on wickets hitting. Out it is! Tossed up on middle and leg, no turn on this one. Joseph prods to defend but misses and gets hit on the pads. It came in the arm but the umpire's call helps Australia to take the last wicket. West Indies are all out for 188.

59.30

A bumper on middle, Joseph sits under it.

59.22

In the air and over! Fuller and outside off. Joseph chips it over covers and evades the fielder there for a brace.

59.10

A length ball, way outside off. Joseph slashes and misses.

We are back for the final session. How many overs for Australia to take the wicket? How many more runs can West Indies add? Let's find out. Pat Cummins is into the attack.

...Day1, Session 3...

The second session was delayed as Australia were just one wicket away from wrapping the innings up but credit to Joseph and Roach for the way they played. They have added 44 valuable runs. At one point, even 150 was looking impossible but these two have survived the Aussie attack somehow and could possibly get the score above 200, who knows? No doubt, the hosts dominated the session. They took 6 wickets with Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins sharing four each. However, failed to take the last remaining wicket. They will hope to clear the final hurdle quickly in the last session of the day. Stay tuned.

Commentary

35.10

Drinks! West Indies have successfully survived the first hour of the day. They are into the lead and Australia have to come out to bat. The result is certain but just seeing the final partnership for West Indies bailing them out again is so brilliant. The question is how much these two can add more?

Hello and welcome to the 3rd and what could be the final day of this Test match. West Indies lost Greaves at the stroke of Stumps on Day 2 and have further put them into misery as they have just 4 wickets in hand. Da Silva is the last recognised batter out there and needs some support from others. Australia have the eyes on the prize. They will hope to finish the job inside the first session itself. Can the visitors get to some kind of lead or it will be Australia through and through? Let’s find out.

...Day 3, Session 1...

Travis Head was the hero for Australia at the start. Even they didn't bat that well but Travis Head yet again played with a lot of intent and scored his 7th ton in his Test career. His innings made a lot of difference to the scenario. Australia took a lead of 95 runs however, the way wickets are falling for West Indies, even getting into the lead looks uncertain. Australia will hope to clear the tail up quickly at the start of Day 3. The first session could well possibly be the final session of the game as well. Join us at 5 am IST (11.30 pm GMT, the previous day). Join us for the build-up as well. Cheers.

Australia are on the driving seat and have one foot over the victory line. The inexperienced West Indies batting order was opened up from Josh Hazlewood who was spitting fire from ball one. It was important for the Windies openers to give a bright start but both Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul went cheaply. West Indies were 19/4 before Kirk Mckenzie came to the rescue and calmed things down in the middle. He and Justin Greaves batted well but the former gave away his wicket. Joshua Da Silva then build a stand along with Justin Greaves but the debutant got out just at the stroke of Stumps.

22.5W

OUT! LBW! Flatter, slower and on leg. Greaves hangs back to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. An appeal for LBW but the umpire shakes his head. Maybe pitching outside the line. Australia go for the review. Snicko shows no bat on it. Ball Tracking shows THREE REDS! WOW! That was inside the line and hits the wicket as well. West Indies lose their sixth just before stumps.

...Third Innings...

Usman Khawaja was dropped on 3 in the slips and he went onto make 45 runs.

...Day 2, Session 3...

A session that belongs to the hosts. They have scored over 100 runs and all the credit goes to Travis Head who brought up his 7th ton. Head walked in while Australia were off the track and were losing wickets. He looked a bit shaky at start but once he took the counter-approach. The runs started to flow for the hosts and in the process got his ton as well. Australia lead by 72 runs at the moment. All eyes will be on Cummins in the next session. If West Indies get his wicket quickly, they might keep Australia below the lead of 100 but if Cummins goes onto score a big one. West Indies will have a long day on the field. Stay tuned.

DRINKS! Australia have crawled their way into the lead! They lost Carey early in the session but Head is continuing playing his attacking way. A lot now depends on him as he only has the bowlers to come. Australia would hope the tail can wag and they can take that lead to around 100. Windies on the other hand, would want to finish this innings as quickly as possible.

We are back for the second session, Travis Head and Alex Carey walk out to the middle to resume their innings.

... DAY 2, SESSION 2 ...

Australia need these two to put up a good stand, they still trail by 44 and if they are to get a decent lead, a lot will depend on these two. Windies on the other hand, will know they are a wicket away from entering the bowlers. The second session could be an important one. It could well indicate which way this game is heading towards. Do join us for it in a bit.

Another session which has been dominated by the bowlers which means, it is the visitors who have had the better session. It was yet again Shamar Joseph who started things off as he got Green early. Head and Khawaja then tried to re-build. The two were going along well but Usman Khawaja went chasing after one and fell five short of a half ton. It was another debutant who got rid of the leftie and that was Justin Greaves! Then it was the turn of the veteran, Kemar Roach who got the better of Mitchell Marsh! Carey though has started positively and Head has been scratchy but he is fighting his way through.

Time for the action to begin! Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green walk out to resume their innings. Alzarri Joseph to begin. Here we go...

The Australians will be mighty pleased after their efforts on Day 1! The likes of Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins ran through the Windies batting line-up, the two shared 8 wickets in total and helped the hosts bowl the visitors out for a low score. Windies however, put in a decent effort with the ball, especially Shamar Joseph who bagged the two wickets to fall. Windies however, will know they will need to keep taking wickets or it could be a long day in the field for them. The Aussies on the other hand will want to bat for as long as possible, Usman Khawaja is well-set and Cameron Green has looked solid. They would hope the two can put up a good stand and lay the platform. The first session is an important one. Stay tuned.

... DAY 2, SESSION 1 ...

The game is not yet out of the Windies' hands. They bowled well in the last session and have to be similar on Day 2 as well. Australia though will look for a big score from Usman Khawaja or Cameron Green and look for a huge first innings score. Join us back at 5 am IST (11.30 pm GMT, the previous day). Join us early for the build-up. Cheers!

Earlier in the day, Australia asked the inexperienced Windies side to bat first and the openers did really well to play out the new ball before getting out. The rookie players found it difficult to play both Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins who ended with four wickets each. Kirk Mckenzie was the stand out player as he scored a classy fifty and controlled the innings when West Indies were losing wickets. It felt like Australia will topple West Indies inside 150 runs but the last wicket partnership of Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach added 55 valuable runs. It was getting a bit frustrating for the hosts to find the last scalp but Lyon trapped Joseph in front of the pads to rattle West Indies for 188.

An intriguing day of Test cricket. Australia dominated the day but West Indies shared the last session thanks to the rookie contestant, Shamar Joseph. He was full of energy and a big smile on his face as he took the ball in his hand. The idea of opening with Smith didn't work that well as Shamar Joseph on his first ball got the big fish. He wasn't done yet as he got Labuschagne later on. West Indies could have got the third one but Joshua Da Silva dropped Usman Khawaja when he was on 3.

Tossed up on middle and leg, no turn on this one. Joseph prods to defend but misses and gets hit on the pads. It came in the arm but the umpire's call helps Australia to take the last wicket. West Indies are all out for 188.

Stay tuned.

We are back for the afternoon session! Kavem Hodge and Kirk Mckenzie walk out to resume their innings. Pat Cummins to begin. Here we go...

... DAY 1, SESSION 2 ...

A solid session for the Aussies and they will be very pleased with how they have gone about things after electing to bowl first! However, Windies showed a lot of fight earlier on. The openers were cautious against the new ball and did not lose a wicket against the opening bowlers, however, it all changed when Pat Cummins came to bowl. He strick twice in no time and put Windies onto the back foot. Alick Athanaze and Kirk Mckenzie then tried to build a partnership but then Josh Hazlewood struck to get rid of the former. More of the same is what Australia will be hoping for after the break. Whereas, West Indies will hope for a partnership. Kirk Mckenzie has began well but he needs someone to hang in there with him. Can Kavem Hodge do so? We will find out after the break.

Time for the action to begin! The Windies openers, Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul walk out to the middle. Mitchell Starc will bowl the first over. Here we go...

Australia (PLAYING XI) - Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey (w), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (C), Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.

West Indies (PLAYING XI) - Kraigg Brathwaite (C), Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Justin Greaves, Joshua Da Silva (WK), Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach, Shamar Joseph.

TOSS - Australia HAVE WON THE TOSS AND ELECTED TO FIELD!

A lot to look out for in the Test series - 1) After David Warner's retierment, it is Steven Smith who will be opening and it will be interesting to see if he makes that position too of his own. We have no doubts about his capability and ability, he is someone who can score runs at any position he bats but opening the batting is a different challenge in itself so really excited to see how does in that slot. 2) Now let's talk about the West Indian side, they have a few exciting prospects like Alick Athanaze and Alzarri Joseph! Yes, the latter is someone who has quite some experience but he has been bowling really well in the last year or so and should enjoy the conditions here. Alick Athanaze on the other hand, is very exciting and has shown great promise in recent times but this will be a real test for him. Can he deliver? It would be a massive confidence booster for him if he does so. We will find out.

Test cricket continues in Australia, it was Pakistan a week or so ago and now it is the Windies who visit Down Under for two Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. We welcome you to the coverage of the first game which is being played in Adelaide. The Aussies are massive favourites, they have had a golden time in the last year or so and are up against a team which is in their re-building phase. We saw Pakistan being battered by the hosts and we expect them to come out on top quite convincingly against the West Indians. The Windies however, would want to prove a point, they will be eager to put up a good fight against the mighty Aussies but they will have to be at their very best if we are to witness an equal compeition between bat and ball. For now, let us hope this turns out to be an exciting series. Stay tuned for the toss and teams in a bit.
