That is all we have from this game. The second game of the double-header between Punjab and Bangalore is underway, so you can switch the tabs and join us there. From here, it is goodbye!

Kuldeep Yadav has been adjudged as the Player of the Match.

Delhi were three down inside the Powerplay but it was their batting depth that bailed them out. Once, Rovman Powell fell it looked like they will come second best here but the cameo from Shardul Thakur and the 75-run partnership between Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel proved to be the winning stand and they won the game with 10 balls to spare. Yadav was going run-a-ball at one time but he played an anchor role throughout and then launched big when it mattered. A superb win for Delhi and they are off to a fantastic start.

Mumbai didn't have the best of starts as both the openers had a go against them but Murugan Ashwin took two wickets and Tymal Mills got one to help them close the Powerplay on a high. Basil Thampi got two wickets and all of a sudden it was looking like a good win for Mumbai but they failed to take the wickets in the backend. Mumbai got hurt by Bumrah's spell mostly. He mostly finds a way to get a wicket and be economical but it was not the case this time around. He went for 43 runs while Daniel Sams did not have a debut to remember as he gave away more than 50 runs in his spell.

Delhi bat deep, really deep and their firepower was shown here. Delhi are off to this new campaign with a hard-fought win, all thanks to Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav. It always looked like Mumbai were 15-20 runs short and it turned out the same as well. Mumbai have now failed to win their opening game since 2012, some streak...

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The Mumbai team is seen in a huddle and Ishan Kishan seems to be missing. The word from the ground is that Kishan got hurt on the toe and has gone for a scan. Aryan Juyal will act as a substitute keeper in place of Kishan. Prithvi Shaw and Tim Seifert are the openers for Delhi today. Daniel Sams has the new ball in hand and is itching to bowl. Let's go...

... The Run Chase ...

Right then. 178 is what Delhi need to get their campaign underway with a win and to be honest, on this wicket the target is chasable. Mumbai have the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills and Daniel Sams who will be raring to go with the ball and get their team over the line. The game hangs in the balance at the interval. Do join us for the exciting chase coming up in a bit.

Kuldeep Yadav is up for a quick chat. Kuldeep says he is happy with his bowling, they were on a good length and is working hard on it. Adds that with India as well, Rohit Sharma was helping him. Tells that his rhythm is good and has been working hard over the last couple of months. Informs he loved all three wickets but Sharma's wicket was very critical and so was Pollard's too. About the wicket, there was not much help but if your length is proper, the batters will find it difficult.

Delhi have a potent pace attack but it just wasn't up to the mark today. Shardul Thakur and the pace of Kamlesh Nagarkoti was taken to the cleaners. Khaleel Ahmed did bowl well and picked up a couple of wickets. Axar Patel too had an uncharacteristic outing but luckily they had Kuldeep Yadav in their side. He picked up three crucial wickets and he is the reason why Delhi aren't chasing a score of above 200. Without their star overseas batters, Delhi have a tough task ahead of them but they have enough homegrown talent in their ranks to chase it down as well.

Mumbai got off to a blistering start courtesy of the skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. At one point, Mumbai seemed to be well on course of scoring in excess of 200 runs but wickets at regular intervals just slowed them down a touch. Kishan though remained till the very end and ended up with a big score of 81 runs. If he had faced more deliveries, he might have ended up with a ton as well. With no dew factor in the day game, Mumbai will feel confident of defending this total with the bowling attack they have got.

The wicket is a belter, the boundaries are short and the outfield is lightning quick. Mumbai have scored 59 runs in the 5 final overs and on the back of a brilliant innings from Ishan Kishan have ended up with a score of 177 runs and one must say that it is a pretty good total in general but maybe just a par score on this surface.

17.10

A full toss, well outside off. Kishan ended up on the floor as he tried to slash it so hard, hitting it to short third man where Shaw makes a good stop.

Strategic Time-Out! Mumbai have control over the game and with 5 wickets back in the hut for Delhi, it's going to be an uphill task to get 75 runs off the remaining 42 balls.

A tossed up ball, slower through the air and outside off. Sharma punches it through covers for a single.

Strategic Time-Out! Well, it's been a blistering start from the Mumbai openers and they have taken the score past the 50-run mark inside the Powerplay. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have been aggressive and will now look to just keep on notching runs and allow the batters to follow to free their arms. Delhi need to pull things back here and maybe introduce Kuldeep Yadav at the earliest to break this partnership or else they will be staring down a big, big target. Speaking about Kuldeep, he has now been brought into the attack.

All in readiness for the action. Delhi players are out in the middle. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are the openers for Mumbai. Shardul Thakur to start with the ball. Here we go...

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of Mumbai, says they would've bowled first as well. Adds it is the first match so they don't know what to expect. Tells it looks good to bat on and there will be a bit of movement. Informs that the wickets are fresh in Mumbai and he is happy to come back here and play. Mentions that there are some restrictions in terms of capacity, but it is nice to see crowds.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi, says they will bowl first. He adds that they are very excited and they wanted to win the toss. He then gives an update on the playing XI and tries to remember all the names. Mentions that the wicket looks good to bat and they have played a few domestic matches on this pitch, so it will be good.

Mumbai (Playing XI) - Ishan Kishan (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Tilak Varma, Anmolpreet Singh, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah, Basil Thampi.

Delhi (Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert, Mandeep Singh, Rishabh Pant (C/WK), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, Kamlesh Nagarkoti.

TOSS - Delhi have won the toss and they have elected to BOWL first!

PITCH REPORT - Danny Morrison is pitchside. He says that there's a 66-meter boundary to one side of the boundary and the batters will be targeting that and the breeze will help a bit as well. Haydos joins him and says that there's a fair bit of grass on the surface and there will be seam on offer. He adds that there's not going to be many runs and the dew won't play a role either.

Mumbai are undoubtedly one of the two biggest names alongside Chennai in the competition and they had an abysmal season by their standards last time around. The Rohit Sharma-led side has kept its core to an extent but it's a fairly new-look unit overall and hence it will be difficult to work out the best combination early on. All eyes will be on Ishan Kishan on whom Mumbai splashed out a lot of money and baby AB, Dewald Brevis as well. So, will Mumbai be able to take advantage of a depleted overseas lineup for Delhi? Or will Rishabh Pant rally his troops to an opening match win? We'll find out soon. Toss and team news in a bit.

Delhi have strengthened their batting department by bringing in the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Rovman Powell but only Powell is available for their tournament opener. This could be a big blow but the likes of Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw and even young star on the rise Yash Dhull will look to make up for it. Delhi have been knocking on the doors for the past three seasons but haven't managed to get their hands on the trophy. They will be looking to go the distance this time and maybe finally clinch their first title but it's a long way to go.

Hello and a warm welcome to the first Super Sunday of the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. In match number 2 of the tournament, Delhi will take on five-time champions Mumbai in what is also the first match of a doubleheader on Sunday. Delhi had Mumbai's number in last year's tournament but over the years it's been an even contest between the two big cities of India and it sure will be a tasty clash.
