Right then. That’s it from this one-sided affair. The action from the Indian T20 League continues on 21st April, where Mumbai will take on Chennai. The first ball will be bowled at 7:30 pm IST (2:00 pm GMT). But as you all know, you can join us in advance for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Kuldeep Yadav is the Player of the Match, he says he wants to share this award with Axar Patel as he was brilliant tonight. Adds that Pant played a key role in the second wicket as he asked him to come around the wicket. Tells that he is confident and mentally clear in this season and is focusing on himself rather than what the batter is thinking. Mentions that he does not watch videos much as he just focuses on his rhythm now. Adds that he is really enjoying his bowling after quite some time, he gives credit to Rishabh who backs him as well.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, says there was too much confusion in their camp because in the morning they got to know there was another case of Covid, but they wanted to focus on their cricket today. Mentions that he likes to leave Warner and Shaw alone since they know their role very well. Sates that results are not in their control, but they can keep improving. Adds that when Lalit bowled in the Powerplay, he thought spinners could come into play throughout the game.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

David Warner is down for a chat. He says the bowlers did a good job and they tried and chased the low total quickly as it sometimes becomes scratchy. They just needed to get out of the room and play cricket. Tells that he just sticks to the basics, form is temporary, class is permanent. Jokes that his kids ask him, why aren't you scoring a century as 60 these days is normal.

Mayank Agarwal, the skipper of Punjab, says it was a day to forget for them and will move on rather than dig in this game. Adds that they were losing too many wickets early on but if you look in the game, there are too many negatives and they need to look forward. Tells that he could have brought spinners early on but he didn't think so.

David Warner and Prithvi Shaw came out to bat with some intent and started firing from the word go and they scored 81 runs within the Powerplay. Shaw did perish soon after the Powerplay, but Warner notched up his half-century and guided Delhi home with ease. Their best performance of the season so far, outstanding with the ball and phenomenal with the bat as well. This victory will surely help their net run-rate as well.

It was always going to be a tough task to defend just 116 runs, but Punjab bowlers were taken to the cleaners right from the beginning of the chase. Rahul Chahar did grab the wicket of Shaw, but the damage had already been done by then. Cannot really blame the bowlers here, they did not have much to defend. Overall, a disappointing performance from Punjab, they were well below their best.

It's been a dominating performance from Rishabh Pant and his men! This game was in doubt earlier due to Covid, but Delhi would be mighty pleased with the show they have put on here after all the problems in their camp. With this victory, they have grabbed a total of 6 points and have moved to the 6th spot in the points table. While Punjab have now suffered back-to-back defeats.

Commentary

We are back for the chase. The players are already out in the middle. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner are the openers for Delhi. Vaibhav Arora to start with the ball.

... The Chase...

Should be an easy chase for Delhi, just 115 runs needed. For Punjab, they need something special to defend this one. The chase is coming up in a short while.

Axar Patel is up for a chat. He says the wicket was sticky when the spinner bowled in the Powerplay. Adds that he bowled well, and the ball was gripping a bit and jokingly says that he is Gujarati and that's why he did not leak runs. Informs that he just bowled to his strength and his favorite wicket was getting their in-form batter, Liam Livingstone stumped. Adds that their main focus was only on cricket once they reached the ground and this should be an easy target to chase.

Delhi will be proud of this performance. They never let the opposition get on the front foot, in the Powerplay, middle phase, and the business end of the innings, Delhi had full control. It was spinner's day out for them, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Lalit Yadav combined to take six wickets. Altogether it was a brilliant performance from Delhi and they will fancy chasing here.

On the same ground, same pitch, a total of 427 runs were scored between Rajasthan and Kolkata a few days ago but Punjab have been bundled out for a below-par score of 115 today. Punjab sometimes goes so hard and aggressive with their batting that they collapse quickly. It is Plan A for them but the tactics failed today. Agarwal gave a good start but they found themselves three down inside the Powerplay. Jitesh Sharma looked in good touch but he perished and after that, there was not much batting from Punjab. It was really an ordinary batting performance from them.

We are ready for action! The players are out in the middle. Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan are the openers for Punjab. Shardul Thakur will begin the proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

Jonny Bairstow is down for a chat. He says that they have played some good cricket together but they have just not clicked. There have been close games but unfortunately, they were on the other side of the result. Adds that there is always room for improvement and they need to improve in all the departments of the game. Mentions that he is coming from Test cricket, and then was in quarantine so it's been tough for him. But he has been striking the ball well and it takes two-three games to find the rhythm. Informs that he is happy to bat at whatever number the team wants him to bat at.

Mayank Agarwal, the skipper of Punjab says he is fine now and will play with some protection on the shoe. Informs that he and Ellis come in and informs it is a strategic change. They need to put up the best foot forward and play some good cricket. Adds that they have an opportunity to bat first and put up a big score on the board and defend it.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, says they will bowl first, there were unfortunate things happening around but they will not think about that much. Tells that there were parts where they bowled and batted well previously. Informs that as Marsh tested positive for Covid, Sarfaraz Khan comes in.

Punjab (Playing XI) - Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal (C) (In for Prabhsimran Singh), Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Shahrukh Khan, Nathan Ellis (In for Odean Smith), Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Vaibhav Arora, Arshdeep Singh

Delhi (Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Rishabh Pant (C/WK), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan (In for Mitchell Marsh), Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed.

TOSS - Delhi have won the toss and they have elected to BOWL first!

PITCH REPORT - Simon Doull is down near the pitch. He says that it is the same surface where Kolkata and Rajasthan played a few nights back and it produced over 400 runs and again the batters will look to attack the shorter side. Adds that it is a beautiful surface, plenty of runs again, just a touch dry this time and so the spinners will come into play this time and he thinks it's still a 180-190 surface.

Punjab have a strong batting line up filled with attacking minded players but they need someone like Mayank Agarwal who gently anchors the innings, which they missed last time around. His availability will bring some stability. Punjab are coming with a loss on their back and their season till now can be seen just how a see-saw works. They look unstable and will hope to find their winning formula soon. Team and toss news coming up.

Let's talk about Delhi first, they are in the bottom half with just two wins for them. It was Mitchell Marsh first and now Tim Seifert has tested positive for Covid, Delhi will hope to strengthen the XI by shuffling the pack. Openers are not the issue but they fail to control the middle phase and will hope to find the solution against the attenuated Punjab side.

Hello darkness my old friend. You know whom we are all talking about. Covid has haunted Indian T20 League again but this time the precautions are taken and we are all set for the action. Let's not talk about that and rather focus on the game. Hello and a warm welcome to the coverage of the clash between Delhi and Punjab. This match was floating on thin air as there were Covid cases in Delhi's camp but now the game is shifted from Pune to Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai and we are all set for yet another intriguing contest.

... MATCH DAY...
