Right then, that's it from the coverage of this game. These two sides will meet again on 5th September 2023 for the fourth and the final T20I match of this series. If England win it, they win the series, but if they don't and New Zealand win it, then it will be regarded as a brilliant comeback from the Kiwis that too away from home. The first ball will be at 10.30 pm IST (5 pm GMT), but as you all know you can join us early for the build-up. Until then take care and goodbye.

Tim Southee, the victorious skipper is up for a quick chat and he says that they were much better today and the style of play was what they would want to continue. Adds that the partnerships in the middle were crucial for the side to post such a big total. Mentions that after posting over 200 they felt confident in defending this well and the bowlers did a great job as well.

Jos Buttler, the captain of England is in for a chat. He starts by stating that they needed a fast start but it was not the case. Even praises New Zealand as he think they outplayed them in this encounter. Mentions that they could get going with the bat today. Adds that he is delighted for Gus Atkinson and is glad he is getting much more exposure here at an International level.

Finn Allen wins the Player of the Match award for his incredible outing with the bat in hand. He says that the way they bowled pushed him to go big and it turned out good for him. Adds that he feels great to help the team in a winning cause and bat the way he did. Informs that he has been working a lot on his body and it is responding in the best way possible.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Tim Southee would certainly be relieved to see the way his boys have performed today, and it was just fitting that Tim Southee was the one who took the final wicket to get his side over the line. England had only one plan, that was too set the platform, although the pair of Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee had other ideas, as they got rid of Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan cheaply. Then, it was the spin that troubled the hosts and Ish Sodhi feasted on it, as he ended the game with a three-wicket haul. Kyle Jamieson also returned with three wicket, and he stood out as well as he was much more economical than the spinner here. Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner chipped in with a wicket each. Overall, it was a dominating performance from the Kiwi bowlers.

This performance was very much unlike England in their home turf. For the first time ever in this series, it looked like their batting unit was weaker than the opposition. To be honest, England were the second best side in this encounter. Jos Buttler with 40 was their highest run scorer, and Moeen Ali's 26 stood second best. That certainly tells you everything you need to know about this batting performance. A rare bad day at the office for the English boys, they will certainly come out hungrier the next time they step out on the field, as the series would be on the line.

England get a taste of their own medicine here. Now they would certainly know how it feels to lose wickets at regular intervals while chasing a target excess of 200 runs in a T20I game. New Zealand have finally managed to seal a victory in this series and that means there is still plenty to play for in the final and the fourth T20I. The never give-up attitude of theirs has taken this series down to the wire.

Commentary

We are back with the run chase! The match officials are out in the middle followed by the players of New Zealand who are en route to their respective field positions. It will be Jonny Bairstow and Will Jacks to open for the home side while the Kiwi skipper Tim Southee will bowl the first over.

...RUN CHASE...

The bowlers did not get any help from the surface and were taken to the cleaners by the Kiwi batters. Gus Atkinson scalped a couple while Luke Wood and Liam Livingstone took a wicket each. Adil Rashid was really expensive as he went wicketless giving away runs with an economy in excess of 10. The target is a huge one but looking at the heavily stacked batting line-up of the English side it is fair to say that the game is on when we return with the run chase in a while.

The Blackcaps started off brilliantly setting things up for their tall batting order with 48 runs on board in the powerplay itself. Devon Conway was unlucky to get run out on a No-ball early in the powerplay. Then followed a solid partnership in the middle muddle for the third wicket between Glenn Phillips and Finn Allen as the duo added 88 runs in no time before Finn Allen was removed from the middle. There were contributions from everyone and it was an out-and-out satisfying batting performance from the batters. Finn Allen batted superbly scoring 83 and was complimented tremendously by Glenn Phillips as he scored 69.

A significant change in the mindset of the Kiwi batters helps the visitors post a mammoth total on the board. Tim would be delighted with his side's batting performance after winning the toss and electing to bat as the Kiwis have scored 202 runs in their quota of 20 overs. This is also the highest total the Kiwis have managed against England in T20I's.

The match is set to begin. England players stride out and take the field. Followed by Finn Allen and Devon Conway who walk out to open for New Zealand. Luke Wood to start with the new ball here.

Jos Buttler, the skipper of England says that he would've loved to bat first as well. The surface seems to be fairly dry. Hopes to restrict the opposition to a low total and then chase it down. Ends by saying even they have a couple of changes to the side.

Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand is in for a chat. He starts by informing that they will bat first. Informs that they have two changes to the side as Kyle Jamieson and Matt Henry make their way in. States that they needed something special while chasing a huge target but it could not happen. Hopes that his top-order is able to set a platform for the rest of the batters to kick on later in the innings.

England (Playing XI) - Jonny Bairstow, Will Jacks, Dawid Malan, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (C/ WK), Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Chris Jordan (In for Sam Curran), Adil Rashid, Luke Wood (In for Brydon Carse), Gus Atkinson.

New Zealand (Playing XI) - Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert (WK), Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson (In for Adam Milne), Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee (C), Matt Henry (In for Lockie Ferguson).

TOSS - New Zealand win the toss and they will BAT first.

England have been dominant in the past two matches, and haven't let the opposition off the hook, neither with the bat nor with the ball. New Zealand would need their batters to put up a better show this time out, because England have been just brilliant at getting runs in this series so far, and their batters haven't really been tested here. To compound to their misery, Gus Atkinson took apart the Kiwi batters and registered a four-wicket haul on his T20I debut for England. So, inevitably questions must be asked about the Kiwi batting unit, which comes across as solid on paper. New Zealand do need to step up, or else they will miss out on the chance of drawing this series. This means only one thing, expect plenty of entertainment and nail-biting action. Stay tuned for toss and team updates.

Hello and a warm welcome to all! It is now time for the third T20I match between England and New Zealand. The hosts have taken a 2-nil lead in this series, and now will be hoping to put the final nail in the coffin. Nevertheless, we surely know that this New Zealand side certainly has a never give-up attitude, and would still be believing in themselves to turn this series around, by winning the remaining two matches, and at least evade the defeat, but first they need to bring their A-game this time out in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

... MATCH DAY ...

We are halfway through this four-match T20I series between England and New Zealand where the hosts have taken a comfortable 2-0 lead with two quality performances. The third game will be played at Edgbaston and the visitors desperately need a win to take this series to a decider. Their batting hasn't been up to standard which is surprising considering the talent that they have in their squad. Finn Allen and Devon Conway make a balanced opening pair for them and they will need to fire in this game. Tim Seifert and Glenn Phillips are both attacking-minded players with Daryl Mitchell providing stability to their middle order. Adam Milne has been impressive in both games and leads their bowling attack along with skipper Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson while Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are their two experienced spinners. They will hope that they can turn things around in this match. England, on the other hand, have dominated their opponents and most of their players are continuing their good form from the recently concluded Men's Hundred 2023. Jonny Bairstow has opened and has already played an excellent knock in the previous game and Harry Brook is proving his worth and is the next big thing for them. This tour can put him back in contention for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Their middle order is stacked with star players like Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Dawid Malan who are known for this format. They have rested a few of their regular bowlers, so Sam Curran leads their attack with Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse who have also contributed well. They also have good options on the bench and could bring back Chris Jordan or give opportunities to Rehan Ahmed and Luke Wood. They will be eying to seal the series in this game only with another victory. Will they seal it? Or will the Kiwis bounce back and make it 2-1? We will find out soon.
