That is all we have from this game and after a clash between the bottom two sides, comes a mighty clash between the top two. On Tuesday, the 10th of May, Lucknow will take on Gujarat at the MCA Stadium in Pune in a battle to solidify the top position. That match starts at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but our build-up will begin much sooner. Do join us then, take care and goodbye!

Jasprit Bumrah (4-1-10-5) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH and you've got to feel for the guy as even after taking a fifer, he ended up on the losing side and it is a rare occasion where we see the player from the losing team getting the award. He comes on for a quick chat. Bumrah says it was a good feeling to take wickets but not a good one when your team doesn't win. Mentions that they were in a good position while batting but the pressure piled up as wickets fell quickly and they lost. Adds that he was in good rhythm before the competition and he just trusts the process and admits you can't get desperate at times when you are losing the match. Tells that they came close in a lot of games, you just take the learning and rectify it and come back stronger in the next season.

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of Kolkata says that it is indeed a relief to get the win, especially given how they lost the last game by a big margin. Adds that they got a great start in the Powerplay and Rana was pretty good as well and the way he hit Pollard got him going. Mentions that in general, it was difficult for the new batter to get going right away and that was the chat when they came out to bowl as well. On being asked about Venkatesh Iyer coming back into the side, he says that it is really difficult to come back after being dropped and mentions that he has been in a similar position himself. Goes on to applaud McCullum and the support staff to back the players and is very happy with how things played out. Mentions that the players are charged up and knows that they have faltered earlier but to get the win is massive. Also adds that he is happy but not completely and wants to keep up the good work.

The presentation ceremony to follow...

Venkatesh Iyer says it was good to be back and more importantly, they won the game. Adds that its important to contribute to the team, with the bat or ball and he ensures to do the job in all departments. Tells that his intent was to be aggressive but sometimes it doesn't come off. He just ensures to give a good start and then let the middle order contribute. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...

Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma says that they were happy to chase 165 and they would take that any day. He then goes on to applaud the bowlers and mentions that Jasprit Bumrah was sensational tonight but the batting let them down. Mentions that it was their fourth game here and it can be a bit up and down and there's something for the pacers here, it's just that they didn't bat well. On being asked about restricting the opposition to a lower score, he says that he doesn't think so and it was a good bowling performance and mentions that consistency in all departments in the same game is lacking a bit. And now let's hear from Venkatesh Iyer...

Earlier in the day, after being inserted, Kolkata courtesy, Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana looked all set to get to something around 200. However, Jasprit Bumrah's fifer saw them end with something below 170 which seemed under par at that stage. However, the Kolkata bowlers rose to the occasion and managed to defend it brilliantly. Stay tuned for a few interviews...

For Mumbai, except for Ishan Kishan, no other batter played an innings of substance. He got to a half-ton but nobody except him even managed to cross the 20-run mark. They needed Kishan to go big and the others to play around him but that was not the case. Kishan too fell when his side needed him to continue. The onus then totally came onto Pollard but it was too much of an ask.

What an excellent bowling performance then from Kolkata! 165 seemed a little under par but they have done brilliantly to defend this and they have kept their hopes alive of qualifying. Right from the first over their bowlers were on the money. They did not let Mumbai score freely in the Powerplay and also got a couple of wickets. After the first 6 too, they continued the squeeze. Whenever Mumbai looked to accelerate, they lost a wicket. It was a combined bowling effort from Kolkata. Have to say, each and every bowler played their role but Cummins was probably the stand-out with three wickets in his 4 overs.

OUT! RUN OUT! Sensational stuff from Rinku Singh and Kolkata finish things off with three run-outs! Have you ever seen that? Andre Russell angles in a pacy delivery onto leg stump and Riley Meredith awkwardly tucks it away towards square leg. The batters look to scamper through for a run but Rinku is quick to get on to the ball and in a single fluid motion throws it back onto the stumps at the batter's end. The third umpire checks the review and Jasprit Bumrah is short of his crease. KOLKATA WIN BY 52 RUNS!

Riley Meredith is the last man in for Mumbai.

17.21W

OUT! Kieron Pollard IS RUN OUT! Pollard goes now. Gets a reprieve from a dropped catch but gets run out and with that Kolkata might feel they have the game now. Russell angles a short ball, directed onto the body. Kieron Pollard backs away and tries to pull but gets a top edge and the ball goes way, way high in the air. It goes to the left of the keeper and takes miles to come down. Sheldon Jackson, the keeper, calls for it and shuffles around but he was never comfortable there. He fails to catch it and Varun Chakaravarthy hanging across, collects the ball. Meanwhile, Pollard takes the advantage and calls for a quick second run but the throw comes in to the keeper's end where Shreyas Iyer does the job. Kieron Pollard was well short as the replay confirms and he has to walk back.

17.10

This is on a length, slow and down the leg side. Pollard misses his flick and the ball brushes his thigh pad on its way.

Is that run out? Kumar Kartikeya is well in his crease when the stumps light up and he survives.

Commentary

We are back for Mumbai's reply. The players are out in the middle. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are the openers for Mumbai. Tim Southee to start with the ball.

... THE CHASE...

Right then! Mumbai looked to be chasing a target of around 200 but they need 166 runs to win the game and make it three wins on the trot. Kolkata will need an inspirational performance with the ball in order to win the game and stay in the hunt for a playoffs berth. The exciting chase coming up next.

Man of the moment, Jasprit Bumrah is down for a quick chat. Bumrah says it was a good day. Says it was going his way and it was important to stay in the present and not to overdo things. Adds that he needed to do the job for his team, that gives him satisfaction. There is no fixed mindset, he trains for all situations. Tells that he just wants to contribute to the team in any way possible. Tells that he assessed the conditions  and went accordingly with the bouncer or a yorker.

Mumbai might be out of the competition but boy, would they love to spoil Kolkata's chances of making it through to the playoffs. They were expensive inside the Powerplay and the spinners weren't as effective but Kumar Kartikeya did pick up a couple of wickets to get Mumbai back into the game. Jasprit Bumrah was brought back in for one over in the middle phase and he turn the tide in that over itself sending back Rana and Russell. He came back at the death to pick up three more wickets to earn a maiden five-fer for himself in the competition. Mumbai will feel they have pulled things back enough to chase it down.

Kolkata will be thoroughly disappointed with the way they tried to go after Bumrah tonight. Most teams have just tried to see him off but not Kolkata and this might just cost them. For the first time this season, their openers got to a 50-run stand and the platform was set up nicely but untimely wickets slowed them down a touch. Nitish Rana was still going good but Bumrah got rid of him and dangerman Andre Russell in quick succession to put Kolkata on the back foot and they just couldn't change gears at the death.

Well, that escalated quickly! The first innings was filled with excitement from beginning to end. Kolkata batters bossed the first half or so with Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana being the standout performers. But what a final few overs from Jasprit Bumrah and co! Bumrah bowled his last two overs giving away just one run and picked up three wickets during that time as well.

He is on a Hat Trick.

OUT! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust and Jasprit Bumrah is dragging things back for Mumbai really nicely. Another short ball from Bumrah, he gets it around head height and Pat Cummins just tries to swing bhis bat at it. The ball just has too much pace on it and takes the top edge. The ball skies up towards backward square leg where Tilak Varma takes a simple catch. The dangerous Cummins departs early and Bumrah has four!

17.20

Feisty from Bumrah! Bumrah delivers a 146.8 kph bumper first up to Cummins and he is diving for cover here.

Pat Cummins is the new man in.

17.1W

OUT! TAKEN! Jasprit Bumrah is having a brilliant outing and picks up his third wicket of the game. Pacy short ball, outside off. Sheldon Jackson looks to take it on and tries to fetch it but gets hurried on and the ball goes high off the top edge towards the mid-wicket region. Daniel Sams runs in from the square leg fence and dives to his left to take a stunner and Jackson has to depart.

OUT! TAKEN! What a catch from Sheldon Jackson and what a review as well from Kolkata! This is just what they would have wanted at the interval, to get Rohit Sharma as early as possible. Tim Southee bowls this one on a good length around off and the ball jags back in a bit. Sharma hops and tries to turn it leg side but the ball goes off the thigh pad. Jackson dives forward and across to his right and sticks out the right glove to pouch it. It is not given by the umpire but on reviewing UltraEdge shows a lot of spikes even before the ball reaches the bat and the ball seems to be missing the bat. But the third umpire has to depend on the technology and the decision is reversed as there is a spike when the ball is near the bat as well. Rohit Sharma feels a bit hard done by that decision and maybe rightly so.

Review! Kolkata take a review for a caught behind decision. There is a lot of murmur on the UltraEdge and a big one when the ball passes the bat. The third umpire feels it is out as he has to depend on what the technology shows and hence it is given out. Rohit Sharma is left in disbelief as he walks back.

Kolkata (Playing XI) - Ajinkya Rahane (In for Aaron Finch), Venkatesh Iyer (In for Baba Indrajith), Shreyas Iyer (C), Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sheldon Jackson (WK) (In for Anukul Roy), Pat Cummins (In for Harshit Rana), Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Varun Chakaravarthy (In for Shivam Mavi).

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of Kolkata says they are happy to bat first as the wickets look pretty green. Adds that they are batting strong at the moment, they will hope to get a good total on the board. Tells that opening has been an issue but there are ups and downs and they are not thinking much about it. Informs there are five changes.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of Mumbai says that they will have a bowl first and adds that there's no particular reason for that and they want to chase a good score tonight. Mentions that the season has been up and down for the team and they try to maximize the opportunities and the last two games have been fruitful, so will look to continue the momentum. Informs that Suryakumar Yadav is out due to an injury and Ramandeep Singh comes in to replace him.

PITCH REPORT - Graeme Smith is pitchside. Smith says that the dimensions tonight are much more even and the surface a bit patchy. Adds that underneath there is dry, red soil and the grass cover has worn off. Mentions that this stadium has been useful for the slower bowlers but the success to that is bowling wicket-to-wicket. Smith ends by saying that the pitch should play alright and there might be dew later on and hence, the captain winning the toss should look to bowl first.

BREAKING NEWS - The news from the Mumbai camp is that Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a muscle injury.

All Mumbai can do now is play party spoilers and they would love to spoil Kolkata’s party. They have started to find their mojo and Kolkata are probably still a team that is finding out its best XI. The only positive for Kolkata heading into this game is, that they have managed to do well against Mumbai in the recent past but can they rack up a win here?

Hello and a warm welcome to match number 56. It is Mumbai against Kolkata! These two sides have won the Indian T20 League a total of 7 times combined but this year, both have struggled. Mumbai are already out and Kolkata have a slight, very slight chance of making it through. They’ll need to win almost all their games if they are to have a chance but they come up against a side who they have not only struggled against in the past but a side that has started to win as well. This is not going to be easy for Kolkata who are themselves on a poor run. Can they turn the tables around here? We will find out.
