India, on the other hand, have been very disciplined with their bowling. They troubled the South African batters a lot, but could not manage to get an early breakthrough. A dropped catch, reviews going against them, nothing went India's way. Shardul Thakur, did come back and grab the big wicket of Petersen and put some pressure on South Africa. But, have not managed to take another wicket. A tough session for India, but they can look to turn things around after the break. But it won't be an easy task. Will India be able to make history? Or will South Africa continue their domination on home turf? South Africa started off the session brilliantly. Keegan Petersen, once again displayed his class and kept the scoreboard ticking. Rassie van der Dussen too did well and was playing a responsible innings. Although the Indian bowlers did trouble them initially, but the duo did well not to get an outside edge on any of the deliveries. Petersen though got a reprieve off the dropped catch by Pujara at slips and since then, Petersen collected runs watchfully. But he could not get his first Test century and slipped out on 82. Later, Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen did well to remain unscathed till the end of the first session.

An intense session of Test cricket! South Africa on top here after the morning session. Although it seems easy for South Africa, Indian bowlers are making them fight for each run. In the first hour of the session, the hosts were running away but India came back stronger, and picked up the wicket of the big fish, Keegan Petersen. Since then, it has been a challenge for South Africa to score runs. The hosts still need 41 runs, while India need 7 wickets.

The moving day for India didn't turn out to be a great one as India were bowled out for 198, but the day turned out to be a great one for Rishabh Pant as out of those 198, 100 were scored by him. He became the first Asian wicketkeeper to notch up a ton on the South African soil and thanks to his ton, India set up a target of 212 runs. Once again, it was Shami and Bumrah who struck in the final session on Day 3 and the Indians would know that a wicket or two can change the trajectory of the game.

We cannot emphasize the importance of the first session on Day 4. Whichever team comes out on top before Lunch on Day 4 will have a big advantage. But, if the next pair for South Africa can put up a 50-plus stand then the hosts will have a big advantage in the chase. We have witnessed so many comebacks in this Test match by both the sides and right at the stroke of Stumps, Bumrah puts his hand up and gets his side back in the equation after a prized scalp of Elgar. India started brilliantly and it was Shami who drew the first blood. India were not happy after a lbw decision went against them, after South Africa took the review and must have lost some concentration post that, which led to leaking a few extra runs and India won't be happy about it. India need more 8 wickets to mark a historic win in South Africa. Also, lets keep in mind, only thrice a team has chased down a target above 200 runs in Cape Town.

A really good session for the hosts until the wicket of their skipper. South Africa came out to bat with the right intention to chase down a target of 212 runs. Markram was the aggressor while Elgar was being watchful initially. Although, Markram went chasing for a few deliveries outside off and it costed him his wicket. Petersen joined Elgar in the middle, the runs came in at a slow rate initially. But Elgar made sure to make the most of his reprieve and both the batters scored runs at a brisk rate and 100 was up for the hosts in no time. But in the end, Elgar lost his wicket at the stroke of Stumps and that would hurt South Africa a lot.

What a day! What a day of Test cricket! Things are still neck and neck between these two sides and one hour of a dominant display by either side could put them well on top. ... Day 3, Session 2 ...

India, on the other hand, were in trouble very early. After losing Pujara and Rahane in quick succession. Virat Kohli, is displaying his masterclass once again, he has been disciplined at the crease, tackling the short balls well and attacking the freebies. Pant, too has been exceptional. He did not get tempted and chose his shots really well. He brought up his 8th half-century and has played a responsible innings here.  The duo have put together an unbeaten 72-run stand. Will South Africa make a come back? The hosts started off brilliantly, Marco Jansen grabbed the wicket of Pujara in his very first over of the day. In the very next over Rabada chipped in by sending back Rahane early to the hut. But since then, they have allowed the Indian batters to score freely. Although Jansen and Rabada did trouble the Indian skipper, with their short balls, but were not rewarded for the same. Coming into the second session, they would be hoping to grab quick wickets and not let India get away with a healthy lead.

A thrilling first session of Test cricket. The first hour of the match belonged to the hosts, while the second hour was truly India's. The visitors hold a slight edge over the Proteas. South Africa got rid of Pujara and Rahane early, but Kohli and Pant have kept the scoreboard ticking. India now lead by 143 runs at the end of the first session.

TWO! Fifty for Rishabh Pant! That is a superb innings! Yes, he has got it up in just the 58 balls but by no means has this been the careless Rishabh Pant we have seen in this series so far. We do not mean he has been very cautious, he has played his shots but he has selected the right balls. He's shown great maturity and has really dug his side out of the grave here. Still some way to go though. He gets a full ball on the pads, he works it through mid-wicket for two. Also, this is a much-needed knock for India. This innings from Pant, not only does wonders for him and his team but also for Kohli. Because of the speed Pant is scoring at, quite a lot of pressure is released of the Indian skipper.
