That concludes the proceedings for this heart-pumping game! India adopted the English approach to chase down the target. They always kept the required rate under control and that played a big role in their victory. With the series gone, Sri Lanka's only aim will be to win the last match and get 10 points for the ICC Men's CWC Super League. Can they cross the line in the third ODI? Do join us on Friday, 23rd July to find out. The first ball will be at 3 pm local (9.30 am GMT) but you can join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!

Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian captain, says the wicket felt a lot better than the last one and he thinks that the bowlers did well to restrict Sri Lanka to a gettable total. Admits that they did not start well with the ball and it is a good learning curve for the youngsters that every day is different. States Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav played well and called Krunal's fight with the bat amazing. Praises Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and tells that they were brilliant to watch and the way Chahar finished the game was excellent. Mentions the odds were against them but Chahar has been working hard with the bat and it was good he could implement it in the game. Further says that they showed a lot of calmness and were brilliant. Ends by saying the way Lanka planned their innings was really good and their strategy with the ball was also brilliant along with their fielding. States that Sri Lanka worked hard but Dhawan is glad that India won the game.

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper, says that he is proud of his boys for the way they played and calls it a tough game. Credits the Indian players especially Deepak Chahar, who took the game away from them. Mentions they did not do well in the middle period with the bat and he hopes they can reflect on this in the next game. Regarding his bowling, Shanaka replies that he did not bowl for a long time as there were plenty of options but tried his luck in this match and it worked.

THE MAN OF THE MATCH IS DEEPAK CHAHAR! Says there were a few dropped catches early on and it was also very hot. Mentions that they did nicely to make a comeback and stop them to 275 which was a decent score. States he had just one thing on his mind that he can play a dream innings here for his country and there is no better way to win the game for your side and it was important to stay there till the end. Adds Rahul Dravid has seen him bat and he believes in him and probably that's why he came ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Also says they have a good batting line-up and he hopes he is not needed in the next games. Informs this is the first time he has won the game with the bat. Ends by saying, when the runs needed came under 50, he took risks and started hitting shots but before that, he was only looking to knock it around. Feels the six that he hit gave him the momentum.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka chose to bat first and started brightly. However, once again they lost the plot in the middle overs and some late flourish from Chamika Karunaratne handed them a fighting total. They almost had the match in the bag but Deepak Chahar's knock spoiled their party. With this win, India also keep their winning streak in ODIs in Sri Lanka intact.

With 83 runs needed in 89 balls and three wickets in hand, it was Sri Lanka's game to lose and they ended up losing. Chahar batted with sensibility and smartness to stitch a partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar who also was level-headed in his approach. They played clever cricket to knock the ball around a bit and when the equation came down below 50, Deepak started to play his shots. There were a few lucky boundaries to aid them but that's part and parcel of the game. Sri Lanka will be crestfallen at the moment, they fought very hard and this defeat will be tough to swallow. Still, their energy in the field was incredible and the bowling effort of Wanindu Hasaranga was brilliant.

The presence of Suryakumar Yadav meant that Sri Lanka were not able to exert much pressure and his partnership with Krunal Pandya steadied the chase. The good thing for India was that the required run rate never reached an alarming level. Once Surya was trapped in front by Lakshan Sandakan, Sri Lanka did have an opening but once again the Indian lower order showed fight. Krunal formed a partnership with Deepak Chahar and once the former was dismissed, Chahar took charge.

This match saw plenty of ups and downs as it swung like a pendulum. The Lankan bowlers bowled a buffet of lines and lengths upfront and were all over the place. The chase started with a flurry of boundaries with both Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan bagging three apiece in the first two overs. After that period, Sri Lanka struck back through Wanindu Hasaranga and there was a phase where India lost three wickets. Suryakumar Yadav's arrival to the crease, however, never allowed the pressure to build on the visiting team. He stroked a delightful half-century and along with Manish Pandey propelled the chase. Just when it started to appear that India will coast to victory, Manish Pandey got run out in an unfortunate manner at the bowler's end and Hardik Pandya too was dismissed in the same over.

Deepak Chahar has done it for India! What a thrilling victory for them, it went right down to the wire and the tourists showed better nerves to end on the positive side of the result. Suryakumar Yadav is running on the ground in his slippers, he is ecstatic. The Indian players are now also coming out to shake hands with the opposition players. This is now the 9th consecutive ODI bilateral series win for India against Sri Lanka. Thorough dominance.

FOUR! Chahar finishes it in style! A fitting end to this game. A slower short ball on middle, it sits up to be hit and Chahar was ready for it. He smacks it over the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary. INDIA WIN BY 3 WICKETS!

3 needed now! Kasun Rajitha to bowl the final over.

FOUR! Kumar gets it away for a boundary and that is probably the stroke that wins India not only the game but the series too. Again, not a good ball with point and third man in the ring. Full and outside off, Kumar carves it over the point fielder for a boundary. 12 from the over and India are on the cusp of victory.

48.51

Another one! 7 needed in 7! Short and outside off, this is slapped again but to long off for one. An important ball coming up, can Chameera get a wicket or bowl a dot?

48.42

Two and Mickey Arthur does not like that work in the field! A short ball, it is slapped through covers. The fielder in the deep does not stop it cleanly as he overruns a bit. He then releases a loopy throw to the keeper and the batsmen get two.

48.30

A dot! Chameera might have felt there goes another boundary in that third man region. Good work from the keeper! This is a slower one on off, Chahar looks to play it with an open face of the bat. It goes off the outside edge to the right of Minod who dives and stops it. 10 needed in 9 balls.

48.24

FOUR! Another edgy boundary! Not sure why the third man is up with so many runs going down that region! It is short and outside off, Chahar slashes at it and it goes off the outside edge past the short third man fielder for a boundary.

48.11

A single to begin the 49th! Full and on middle, Kumar helps it in the gap at mid-wicket for a single.

End of Hasaranga! He though keeps his team in it with a one-run over. 15 needed in 12. On middle, it is defended. What a spell from Hasaranga. 10-0-37-3 for him.

47.50

Good sensible batting! On middle, Chahar hangs back and works it to mid-wicket.

47.40

Make that another dot! On middle, Chahar is happy to play Hasaranga out. Blocks it to mid-wicket.

47.30

Yet another dot! Flighted on off, this is pushed to covers for one more.

47.21

Singles will do it for India! On off, this is pushed down to long off for one.

47.10

Dot to begin! Sri Lanka need a lot more! On off, this is pushed back to the bowler.

46.61

Width on offer outside off, Kumar reaches out and slashes it to deep cover for a run. 13 from the over, 16 needed off 18 balls.

46.51b

Play and a miss! Slower delivery, shortish and outside off, Chahar pushes at it and misses. The ball bounces in front of the keeper and strikes him in the unprotected area behind the flap of his pads. The batsmen cross for a bye.

Deepak Chahar is cramping up! He has removed his pads and is down on the ground. The physio has arrived. Also, it's an opportunity for Rahul Chahar to pass on the message from the coach if he has not already. Some stretching is given to Deepak Chahar. 18 needed off 20 balls. Sri Lanka won't mind this break. It has given them the chance to regroup. Deepak is back on his feet. We are set to resume now.

46.42

This is lazy from Sri Lanka, shoulders are dropping. On a length and outside off, Chahar plays it softly behind square on the off side and returns for the second run as the fielder takes his time to release the ball.

46.34

FOUR! Handy runs for India! A short delivery, around leg, Chahar tries to pull but it takes his gloves and speeds away to the fine leg fence. This match is slipping away from Sri Lanka. 20 needed off 21 balls.

46.21

Well played! Slower delivery, short and on middle, Kumar stays back and calmly guides his pull down to fine leg for a run.

Commentary

It's time for the run chase to begin! The Sri Lankan players are spreading on the field. Out walk the dazzling duo of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. The former set the stage on fire in the first ODI, are we in for something similar? Kasun Rajitha, who has replaced Isuru Udana in the XI, will bowl the first over. Done with the countdowns, here we go...

Right then, Sri Lanka have once again put the runs on the board and now will have to defend it against an in-form and hungry batting line-up of India. Surely, it's an under-par total but if the hosts manage to pick early wickets, we will be in for an entertaining chase. Do join us in a short while for all the action.

Main performers! With the bat, Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka again were among the runs while Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka and Chamika Karunaratne also scored more than 30 runs. But a big knock from a set batsman was lacking and that is something they need to work on. The Indian bowling wasn't impressive at the start and then at the end but they managed to gain control in the middle overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers but his spin partner wasn't up to the mark with his lines and lengths. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar took 5 wickets between them but certainly, India would have been hoping for a much better show from them.

Powerplay 2 was more about India's comeback! After struggling to get the first breakthrough, the Indian team shifted to plan B of drying up the runs. They managed to do that successfully and in the 14th over Yuzvendra Chahal struck twice to peg Sri Lanka back. The going got quite tough for the hosts after that but the presence of a set Avishka Fernando and experienced Dhananjaya de Silva meant that they got yet another stand. However, in an attempt to take the attack to the bowlers to increase the scoring rate, both played rash shots and threw away their wickets in quick succession. Another couple of wickets went down before Powerplay 3 and the main feature was that every time there was a partnership, India managed to strike back.

Let's discuss Sri Lanka's batting innings in phases! They started safely in the first few overs of Powerplay 1 when the ball was moving around. Minod Bhanuka had a catch dropped in the second over but after that the Lankan openers put their head down and took on the Indian bowlers. There were plenty of boundaries scored in the first 10 overs as the home team finished that period wicket-less and the scorecard reading 59 runs. A happy and safe start!

80 runs in the last 10 overs and Sri Lanka have managed to better their last score by 13 runs. Once again Chamika Karunaratne showed his hitting prowess towards the end and played a handy cameo. His stand with Charith Asalanka was the main reason the hosts didn't lose the plot much and finished with a decent total on the board.

FOUR! Thumped down the ground and that is a superb end to the innings for Sri Lanka! THEY END WITH 275/9! This is full and on off, Karunaratne smashes it down the ground to the long off fence for a boundary.

49.54

FOUR! Smacked! This is full and outside off, Karunaratne smashes it wide of the sweeper cover fielder for a boundary.

49.41

That is what Rajitha does! On off, this is pushed to mid off for one.

Kasun Rajitha walks out to bat now!

49.3W

OUT! Really good work from Ishan Kishan! This is short and outside off, Sandakan looks to drag it over the leg side but misses. He sets off for a bye but his partner stops after taking a start. Lakshan has to turn and get in but Kishan runs in and hits the stumps before that. Kishan says in Hindi and the stump mic catches it - 'Bol kar maara!' Meaning, he had said it before that he will do the run out. Last evening, he shared that he already had told his teammates that he will hit the first ball for a six in the first match. Love the confidence of these youngsters.

49.21

This time he goes after the wide one outside off, it goes on the bounce to the fielder at deep cover. One taken.

49.21wd

WIDE! Well wide outside off, Chamika Karunaratne lets it be. Wided.

Lakshan Sandakan walks out to bat.

49.1W

OUT! TAKEN! Kumar has another one! The good thing for Sri Lanka is that the batters crossed. The idea was not wrong there by Chameera but the execution was not there. It is a slower one outside off. Chameera shuffles across and then looks to slog it over the leg side. He had to drag it, the bat turns in his hands and the ball balloons towards square leg off the top edge. Devdutt Padikkal (sub) moves back a bit to take the skier safely.

FOUR! The last two balls spoil the over completely and it turns out to be an excellent one for Sri Lanka! Poor ball to finish! It is short and on the body, with fine leg up, that is easy pickings. This is pulled down to the fine leg fence for a boundary.

48.54

FOUR! Welcome boundary! Comes down the track and takes it on the full toss, he smashes it down the ground to the long off fence for a boundary.

48.42

That might have hurt! A low full toss on middle, this is hit hard back towards the bowler. It hits the foot of Chahar and rolls on the leg side to deep mid-wicket. Two taken.

48.41wd

WIDE! A bumper but that is way too short. Goes over the head of the batter. Smiles were exchanged between Chamika and Chahar. Always good to see that. Wided!

48.31

Does that this time! It is full and on off, Chameera walks across and tries to flick, he gets an inside edge onto the pads. It rolls on the off side for one.

48.20

Another dot! A dipping full toss outside off, Chameera once again looks to go over the off side but no connection. Not smart from him. He should just turn the strike over to his partner.

48.10

A good slower one, well outside off. Chameera is way too early in the swing of his bat and misses.

47.50

Shorter and outside off, this one stays a touch low. Karunaratne slashes at it but misses.

47.41

Another one! On off, Chameera pushes it towards covers and gets to the other end. 250 up!

47.31

On off, this is pushed towards covers for one.

47.24

FOUR! Edgy! Not a good ball with third man up in the ring, this is outside off and on a length. Karunaratne slashes at it but it goes off the outside edge and down to the third man fence.

Dushmantha Chameera walks out to bat now!

47.1W

OUT! TAKEN! Straight to the man and it is a welcome wicket for the visitors! A good innings by Asalanka comes to an end but his team would have loved had he batted the distance. The slower one does the trick for Kumar! It is full and on middle, Asalanka looks to heave it over the mid-wicket fence but does not connect that well and it is also towards the longer part of the ground. Devdutt Padikkal, the sub, takes a simple catch. A good batting effort nonetheless from Charith Asalanka.

The ball flies towards mid-wicket, Dasun Shanaka runs behind from the ring, puts in a dive but the ball falls away from him. The batsmen take a run as Chamika is unhappy.

18.40

A length ball on off, Krunal leans forward and offers a textbook defensive shot.

18.30

OUT! TAKEN! The dropped catch does not cost a lot as Shanaka gets his man! A duck for Pandya and his habit of going at the ball with hard hands sees him getting dismissed. That was never a good idea on this wicket which is holding up a little. Sri Lanka well and truly on top and thanks to their skipper. What an over, comes onto bowl when his team was under pressure and has taken two wickets (one was run out). This is on middle, holds on the surface a shade. Pandya looks to play it with a straight bat towards mid on but does so well ahead of his body. It flies off the inside edge to the left of mid-wicket where the fielder, de Silva, dives and takes a fine catch.

17.50

A short one now and outside off, Pandya lets it go to the keeper.

17.40

PUT DOWN! The skipper gives Hardik a lifeline. A tough chance but he got two hands to it. This is fuller and on off, holds in the surface a little. Pandya goes hard at it and the ball goes back off the splice, low towards Shanaka who gets down but the ball bursts through. This could be a big let off.

17.31

A single now as this is eased down to long on.

Hardik Pandya arrives in the middle. 161 runs needed in 196 balls.

17.2W

OUT! RUN OUT! Pandey has to walk back in probably the most unfortunate way! Dasun Shanaka, you beauty! Gets himself on and provides the wicket, not in the fashion he would have thought of doing though. Gets the breakthrough as this stand was taking the game away from them. Shanaka bowls it full and on middle, Yadav strokes it back towards the bowler who gets down, it brushes his fingertips and goes behind and hits the stumps. Pandey is well out and he knows as he starts walking back. The umpire takes it upstairs and the replays show that the ball has touched his hand. Wrong positioning by Pandey there. He was quite chest on as he was taking a start and he had absolutely no chance of making it back from that position. Sri Lanka are back into this one courtesy of some luck.

Run out appeal! Has the bowler got some touch on it? Manish Pandey, at the non-striker's end, has tried his best to plant his bat inside the line but seems to have failed. He stands up and is ready to walk.

FOUR! Clever again from Yadav! He has mastered these innovative shots. He is Mr 360 for India. Chamika Karunaratne digs in a short ball outside off, SKY leaps and ramps it over the keeper's head for a boundary. Yadav is currently batting with a strike rate in excess of 160. Scintillating stuff.

Drinks break! It's been a great start with the ball from Sri Lanka. They did get an early scare when India smashed six boundaries in the first two overs but the hosts bounced back very well. After picking three top order wickets, Sri Lanka have the upper hand but they cannot let the advantage slip again. The last two overs went for 20 runs and this is something they have to avoid. This lands on middle and straightens. Dhawan goes back and tries to work it on the leg side but misses. It hits the pads. A huge appeal follows but it's turned down. FOUR! Misfield and a boundary! This is very poor from Sri Lanka! They are already behind in the series and they just can't put in such efforts! This is short and on off, Dhawan plays the upper cut. It lands short of the fielder at third man where Kasun Rajitha overruns a bit to his right and the ball bounces past his left side for a boundary.

1.20

On the pads, Dhawan flicks but towards mid-wicket. Two dots. Does that build pressure with Shaw at the other end?

1.10

That has pinged off the bat, does not find the gap though! Fuller and on off, this is driven crisply but to covers.

Dushmantha Chameera to bowl from the other end. By far, he has been the best bowler for Sri Lanka in the recent past. Can he provide the early breakthrough?

FOUR! Three boundaries in a row and India are off to a flying start again! There is just no margin for error against Shaw. This one is on his pads, he flicks it through mid-wicket. Races away again. Not the start Lanka wanted. 14 from the first over.

0.54

FOUR! Through mid off this time! Fuller this time on off, Shaw once again shows the full face of the bat and creams it through mid off. This is a similar start to the last game.

0.44

FOUR! Shaw is off the mark in style! Length and on middle, Shaw stays back, shows the full face of the bat and punches it past mid on for a boundary. What a confident stroke from a batter oozing with confidence!

0.30

Very full again, the swing seems to have gone, it is firmly pushed to mid off.

0.31wd

WIDE! Not got it right again! Once again this is down the leg side. Wided. Maybe he is looking to shape away from the leg pole, that magic delivery but there is not that much swing.

0.31wd

India are underway courtesy an extra! Good pace by Rajitha! He looks for a yorker but ends up slipping this one down the leg side. The keeper does well to dive to his left and collect it.

0.20

On the fuller side, some movement away again, this is pushed back towards the bowler who gets some fingertips on it. The ball races behind as the mid on fielder circles around it. Dhawan looks for a run but Shaw sends him back.

0.10

Some swing then for Rajitha to begin with! On a good length and shaping away from off. Shaw guides it to point.

48.54

FOUR! Welcome boundary! Comes down the track and takes it on the full toss, he smashes it down the ground to the long off fence for a boundary.

OUT! TAKEN! Straight to the man and it is a welcome wicket for the visitors! A good innings by Asalanka comes to an end but his team would have loved had he batted the distance. It is full and on middle, Asalanka looks to heave it over the mid-wicket fence but does not connect that well and it is also towards the longer part of the ground. 27.2W

OUT! TAKEN! This is very poor, extremely poor from the Lankan batter. Yes, they probably want to play with an aggressive mindset but this is rash, especially after losing a well-set batter a few overs back. Just like before, after a stand, they have again lost two wickets in quick succession. Dhananjaya once again makes room and tries to go over extra cover. This time Chahar bowls the knuckle-ball, it is full and on off. Dhananjaya is undone completely by the lack of pace. He is way too early into the shot, his one hand comes off the handle as well. It goes up in the air and Dhawan at mid off takes a simple catch before celebrating with his trademark thigh-five.

27.12

STUMPING APPEAL! It has been referred upstairs. Have India got three wickets in the over? A lovely leg spinner from Chahal, he slows it up in the air and allows the ball to grip and spin away from around off. Avishka gets forward with a big stretch and tries to push it through the line. He fails to do so due to the turn on this ball and Ishan is quick to take the bails off. He appeals, not a very confident one but the square leg umpire refers it upstairs. The third umpire first checks for the outside edge which is absent and then he finds Avishka's back leg inside the crease. The Lankan opener is safe to continue.

13.51

Another delivery on middle and leg, it's tucked behind square leg for a single.

13.40

No hat-trick! It's very full and on middle, Dhananjaya defends it on the leg side.

DRINKS! Those two wickets have shifted the balance of this match a bit in India's favour! This is almost a recap of what happened in the first ODI, the Lankans got off to a good start but the Indian spinners brought them back. Chahal has done it alone this time. Sri Lanka will have to consolidate now and the visitors will hope they can continue to chip away at the wickets. An important passage of play awaits. Dhananjaya de Silva walks out to bat now!

13.3W

OUT! Caught behind! A fantastic reflex catch this time by Ishan Kishan. Chahal has two wickets in two balls now and this one is courtesy of his natural variation. Confused? What's a natural variation? Well, it's a delivery that doesn't do what it is expected to do. Chahal serves a leg spinner around off, it's intended to spin back in but instead goes straight on after landing. Bhanuka Rajapaksa leans forward to defend, expecting it to be turning in but this one goes straight on, takes a thin outside edge and Ishan grabs it safely near his chest. They appeal and the finger goes up. India have come roaring back in this match!

Bhanuka Rajapaksa is the new batsman at number 3.

13.2W

OUT! Here is the first breakthrough for India and there is a slice of luck involved in this wicket. Chahal has bought a wicket with a full toss. Not for the first time we have seen a leg spinner getting lucky with that kind of delivery. Chahal looks up at the heavens and thanks his stars. He tosses it up around off, Minod Bhanuka advances down the track to flick it over the leg side but it takes the toe end of his bat and flies straight into the hands of Manish Pandey at short mid-wicket. This time he makes no mistake and Minod returns to the pavilion, dejected.

Drags his length back and bowls it on off, Bhanuka blocks it.

5.44

FOUR! Raining boundaries at the moment from the bat of Minod. Another beautiful stroke! Yes, it is a half volley but it still has to be put away. Full and on off, this is driven with a straight bat down the ground and it goes to the long off fence. This is a superb start for the Lankans and the pitch looks a belter to bat on.

5.34

FOUR! Binod is now oozing confidence! He is not only started to find the middle but also the gaps. The outfield is also really quick! Slightly shorter and on middle, Binod picks the length early and pulls it through mid-wicket, no chance of stopping that one as it races through mid-wicket.

5.21

Takes pace off the ball this time and bowls it fuller and on middle, this is worked towards mid on for one.

5.10

Solid! Length and on off, Fernando pushes it to covers.

FOUR! A boundary to end the over and this is even better than the last one. One of the hardest shots to play in the game, the on-drive. It is full and on middle, this is creamed through mid on for another boundary. A good over for Sri Lanka. Back-to-back good overs for them. It actually was not timed that well, the bat shook in his hand but since mid on was quite wide, a boundary results.

4.50

Gets it right this time! Lands it on a length and on off, blocked onto the ground.

4.44

FOUR! Errs in line and pays the price! This is full and a little too straight, Minod takes full toll of it as he whips it over square leg, no one in the deep and this should make Binod feel a lot better. He wanted to get one away and has finally got the boundary that should release the pressure building on him.

4.30

Again! Offering no width, not letting the batter free his arms. It is played to the man at mid-wicket again.

4.20

Back of a length and on middle, cramps the batter for room. It is worked to mid-wicket.

4.10

Gets away with it! Bowls a good slower one outside off. Minod looks to go over the leg side, he tried to drag it, should have tried to go over covers. Misses.

4.11nb

A little bit of movement after the ball pitches but the line is down the leg side. Minod looks to flick but misses. Wided. Hang on a second, it is not a wide but instead a NO BALL! It is the first Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bowled since 2015. 3093 balls before overstepping, he is human after all. Free Hit coming up.

3.40

Good length ball on middle, Avishka once again forces it down to mid on but not in the gap.

3.30

Fuller and on middle, Avishka pushes it off his pads to mid on.

3.26

SIX! Bhuvneshwar Kumar has completely misjudged it, he ran in a bit too much. A length delivery again, this time angling down the leg side, Fernando picks it off his pads and flicks it aerially towards long leg. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is stationed there and he charges in from the deep, misjudges badly as the ball goes over his head. His attempt to catch it with a jump fails and to add insult to injury, it has fallen beyond the boundary line.

3.14

FOUR! Great shot! A length delivery in the channel outside off, Fernando takes his front leg forward and cracks it through the gap between mid off and extra cover.

EDGED BUT SAFE! This time it has not carried to second slip. A better line from Chahar on this occasion. He keeps it close to off and gets it to move away off the seam, Bhanuka tries to defend with firm hands but edges it behind. Manish reacts quickly but it falls short of him. Wait for a second, the replays show that it did carry and Pandey has failed to grab it. He attempted it with his right hand, probably a shade late as he thought maybe Prithvi will also go for it from first slip. A lifeline for Minod Bhanuka.

1.54

FOUR! First of the game! Chahar gets greedy, tries to bowl an outswinger from the leg stump line, but it turns out to be very straight in line and Bhanuka flicks it through backward square leg for a boundary. Opens his account.

1.40

Fullish and on off, Bhanuka drives it down the ground but straight to mid off.

1.30

Flashes and misses! Chahar puts it on a length and outside off, angling away, the length is not short to attempt a back foot cut but Minod still tries and gets beaten.

1.20

Pitches it up and outside off, Bhanuka drives it off his front foot but finds the cover fielder. Misses out there, all he needed was to put it in the gap.

1.10

There is a hint of away movement. Deepak delivers it on a good length outside off, Minod makes a watchful leave.

Deepak Chahar to bowl from the other end. Two slips in place.

There is the inswinger. On a length and around off, Fernando goes back and defends it back safely. Top over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar!

0.50

Serves a good length delivery outside off, nipping away, Avishka Fernando covers his stumps and shoulders arms.

0.42

EDGED BUT JUST WIDE OF SECOND SLIP! A nervy moment for Avishka Fernando. He once again has a gentle poke inside the line of a length delivery outside off and the away movement takes the outside edge. Manish Pandey dives full length to his right but it goes wide and runs down to third man for a couple of runs.

0.30

Good length ball outside off, shaping away, Avishka defends it off his back foot to the off side.

0.20

Kumar was operating with one slip but now one more comes in after the last delivery. Bhuvneshwar Kumar serves it on a length and outside off, once again Fernando stays back and defends it from the bottom half of his bat.

0.10

Beautiful delivery! Kumar hurls it on a length close to off, Avishka tries to defend without any footwork but it nips away to beat the outside edge. A lovely presentation of the seam.

It's time to get underway! Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka are the Sri Lankan openers. It's very warm and humid out there. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is marking his run-up as he will bowl first with the first new ball. All in readiness, let's crack it...

India (Unchanged Playing XI) -  Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ishan Kishan (WK), Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Sri Lanka (Playing XI) - Avishka Fernando, Minod Bhanuka (WK), Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka (C), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha (In for Isuru Udana), Dushmantha Chameera.

Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian skipper, starts by saying that it was a great job from the bowlers in the last game to restrict Sri Lanka. Praises his spinners for doing a good job while bowling in tandem. Regarding his own batting, Dhawan replies that it depends on the situation and he just looked to rotate the strike as the other batsmen were striking so well. Informs that INDIA ARE UNCHANGED!

Dasun Shanaka, the captain of Sri Lanka, says that the pitch looks better than the last match and batting first would be the way to go. He feels that their batting did well in the end overs of the last game but they need to bat better in the middle overs. Informs that Kasun Rajitha is replacing Isuru Udana in the XI.

Both the captains are out in the middle. Dasun Shanaka has the coin and he gives it a good toss. Shikhar Dhawan calls TAILS but it's HEADS. SRI LANKA ELECT TO BAT!

One of the heroes of the first ODI, Suryakumar Yadav is up for a chat! Regarding his batting, Yadav says that he has been doing the same role in the last few years and that wasn't something new. Adds that passion for this game kept him going and his dad always told him to keep working hard and have patience. States that it was a very emotional moment (to receive the ODI cap) and the only regret is that his family is not around due to the existing situation but back home they were really happy and excited. On his bowling, he replies that he has been bowling in the nets and whenever opportunity strikes, he will be ready. On his preferred batting position, SKY tells that he is comfortable at going in any position. Shares that the feeling in the squad is positive and the brand of cricket they are playing is great and they just want to carry that momentum.

A team going through a crisis faced a team with an abundance of wealth in terms of quality players and the end result was something that was already known - A thorough thrashing! The first match of the series showed two things very clearly, one is that young India is very hungry and the second is that Sri Lanka's never-ending transition period has pushed them way back in the pecking order. A wide gulf between these two teams means that we are in for yet another one-sided affair. Can Sri Lanka have it in them to prove us wrong? Hello and a warm welcome to everyone for the second ODI of the series and thank you for joining us for the coverage. Stay tuned for more updates...
