Goodbye! That's all from the Test series. Dean Elgar lifts the trophy with his teammates and they are looking a very pleased unit. West Indies, on the other hand, have been disappointing and they need to go back to the drawing board. They have a T20I series coming up now which will begin on 26th June 2021 at 1400 local (1800 GMT). Do join us then. Cheers and take care.

Quinton de Kock, the MAN OF THE SERIES, says that the coaches are the ones who helped him get better. Adds that they had a few senior players but this is a young squad and they have a long way to go. Tells that it is nice to have a bunch of guys like these and credits the coaching staff for doing a terrific job. Adds that the ball was swinging in the 70th over when he was there in the first innings and as the ball got older, it was difficult to bat.

Dean Elgar says that this win is huge and they have not won a series in quite some time. Adds that it is a challenge and he has got a talented bunch and they have a good management squad. Tells that the boys stood up and character is very important and that's what they got. Adds that the batting was commendable and their bowlers were brilliant and the wicket was tough. Tells that it was nice to see Rabada perform and it was a great team effort. Says that Rabada is a world-beater and that is what is expected from him and he is a great guy to have in the team. Tells that Ngidi is difficult to face in the nets and it is nice to have him in the team.

Kraigg Brathwaite says that it is disappointing to lose but credits the bowlers for giving it their all. Tells that they could not make partnerships. Tells that they did not carry on and that hurt them. Adds that Roston Chase is also not there and it was a problem. Goes onto say that there were very few partnerships and he did not play well as he would have liked and they will come back stronger. Goes onto say that they need some rest and they have a few weeks to work on some technical stuff and they need to figure out where they can do better.

Kagiso Rabada, the MAN OF THE MATCH, says it has been a while since they have won away from home and they are going to celebrate. Adds that everyone had the hunger to get back on top and everyone put their hand up which is a good sign. Tells that his job is to bowl and whenever they need some lower-order runs, he needs to put his hand up and it's up to them to put their team in a good position. States that great names have retired like Steyn, Philander and Morkel and now it is time for the next generation to come on board and it is nice to spend time with a young group. Tells that personally, the 5-wicket haul was important for him in the first Test match.

Keshav Maharaj is there for a chat. He says that it is really important to win and it is a good stepping zone for them and credits the whole team for a fine victory. Tells that Powell was batting well and he knew he was going to come after him and he bowled it in the right areas. Goes onto say that on the Hat-Trick ball, many things were going on in his head. Adds that there was too much excitement. Tells that catches have been taken and full credit must be given to the fielders. Tells that full credit has to be given to the captain and it is nice to receive support from the skipper. Tells that there are a lot of positives to be taken from this series.

Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony!

West Indies needed 324 runs to win but they had a disappointing start as they lost two wickets quickly. But Mayers and Powell gave them some hope as they stitched a fine partnership but they both threw their wickets away and collapsed. They lost three more in quick succession. Jermaine Blackwood and Kemar Roach gave some fight. But once Blackwood fell, they were bowled out. Kagiso Rabada did a very good job but it was Keshav Maharaj who stole the show. He first picked up a Hat-Trick and then returned to pick up two more to end with a five=fer. In the end, they won by 158 runs.

South Africa struggled in their second innings as they were reduced to 73 for 7 and the game was in the balance then. Then came out Rassie van der Dussen and Kagiso Rabada who counterattacked and helped South Africa get to 173. Van der Dussen played a very good innings while Rabada scored a fine 40. It was Kemar Roach who led with the ball for West Indies. He picked up 4 wickets to keep them down but they will be disappointed that they gave a few runs towards the end.

West Indies were very poor with the bat in the first innings as they were dismissed for just 149. Only Jermaine Blackwood gave some fight as he scored a fine 49 but it was not enough to save West Indies from the blushes. Nobody got going and they were crumbled in the first innings. South African bowlers were just superb in the first innings. Rabada and Ngidi did a very good job while Nortje was decent. Mulder came out and had some fun as well, picking up three wickets and bowling out West Indies for just 149.

After being put into bat, South Africa had a tough start in their first innings as they lost some quick wickets and they were in trouble at one stage. They then were helped by Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock to get to a good score. Elgar scored a fine 77 while de Kock missed out on a well-deserved century as he was dismissed for 96. West Indies' bowling was led by Kemar Roach who picked up three wickets. He was well supported by Kyle Mayers who ended with 3 himself.

End of a fabulous win for South Africa! They have completely dominated this game and the series and it is also Dean Elgar's first series win as captain of the Test side. They will be very pleased with the effort and they needed this win. West Indies, on the other hand, have disappointed and they have been humbled at home by a terrific South African side.

Commentary

We are back for West Indies' second innings! The South African players make their way out to the middle, followed by Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell. Kagiso Rabada will start with the ball.

West Indies, on the other hand, bowled well. Kemar Roach was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up a 4-fer and was lethal. Kyle Mayers continued his good form with the ball in this game as he ended up with three while Holder got one. They would be disappointed though to give some easy runs towards the end and they need to bat really well if they want to chase this score down but first, they will need to face some tricky overs before Stumps on Day 3. Will they be able to go to Day 4 unscathed? We will find out.

South Africa rode on Rassie van der Dussen's knock to get a lead of 323. They started off poorly, losing Markram in the first over. Elgar, Petersen, Verreynne, de Kock and Maharaj could not do much as they were 73 for 7 at one stage but Kagio Rabada played a handy knock of 40. Rassie van der Dussen continued n his merry way and held South Africa get a good lead on this wicket.

South Africa will be happy with the lead here! They started off in poor fashion as they lost quick wickets and were reduced to 73 for 7 at one stage but Rassie van der Dussen and Kagiso Rabada ensured that that is not the case and they have gotten a very good score on the board. West Indies would need to bat really well if they want to win this game.

Hello and a warm welcome to Day 3 of the Test match between West Indies and South Africa. On Day 2, the South Africans thoroughly dominated the whole day. As they rattled out the West Indies side within two sessions of play. The West Indies are currently trailing by 149 runs. The visitors have a strong lead already and will look to put on a huge total on the board. Meanwhile, the key for West Indies will be to get early breakthroughs. A very exciting day of Test cricket awaits us. Stay with us for further updates.

...Day 3, Session 1...

South African have a big lead now of 149. They would look to drive home the advantage by batting well on Day 3. Windies will need wickets and that too really quickly. Will they get it? Will there be a fightback? We will find out. Do join us for the action. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Wiaan Mulder was the tormentor in chief as he got three wickets in the last session. However, it has been a complete team effort from the visitors as every bowler took a wicket at least. Dean Elgar will be pretty pleased with his side.

It seemed like the Windies would continue their batting on Day 3 but once Joshua Da Silva fell, it happened all quickly. The lower-order failed to show any resistance and Jermaine Blackwood in the end, lost his wicket as he looked to get to his fifty.

Another poor batting performance from the Windies! They have really struggled against this South African attack. They kept losing wickets in regular intervals and lost way too many towards the end of the day.

Commentary

The visitors have put up a decent first innings score courtesy two knocks, one from Elgar and the other from de Kock. Windies will want two of their batters to do something similar, probably go on and get a ton. They need to put up a better show with the bat or they could be staring down another defeat. The visitors will want to repeat what they did with the ball in the first Test. The wicket seems good for batting but there is something in it if you hit the right lines and length. Stay tuned for the second session which could be a good one.

One can say it was a combined effort by the Windies pacers with almost everyone taking a wicket at least. Mayers though has to be the pick with a three-fer but everybody played their part.

It all began with Roach getting Mulder early on in the session. De Kock though continued and along with Maharaj added another handy stand. Both though fell in quick succession with the African skipper falling 4 short of a ton. The last two wickets did frustrate Windies a little but they did not let them go past the 300-run mark.

A really good bowling effort from the hosts this morning and they have done really well to keep South Africa under 300. However, one feels that the visitors do have an edge right now but they will be a little disappointed to not cross that mark.

112.4W

OUT! TAKEN! The last wicket is finally taken! Roach ends the stand which might be frustrating the hosts. It is a soft dismissal. On middle, it is worked straight to the man at mid-wicket. SOUTH AFRICA BOWLED OUT FOR 298! THAT WILL ALSO BE LUNCH ON DAY 2!

Commentary

West Indies, on the other hand, have disappointed and they have been humbled at home by a terrific South African side.

... Day 4, Session 2 ...

West Indies, ohh West Indies, they have been completely dominated here so far. They did not have a great start to the session, losing Brathwaite and Hope early but Mayers and Powell gave them hope as they played some lovely shots. Mayers then decided to just attack and threw his wicket away. Powell too, threw his wicket away after reaching his fifty and then they lost their way. Holder and Da Silva were dismissed for 0 and now they are way behind. They are also not too sure if Roston Chase is going to come out to bat or not. They need a very big partnership if they want to make a match of this. The second session will begin at 1240 local (1640 GMT). Stay with us.

What a session for South Africa! They have been brilliant and they are just 4 wickets away from a victory and they will be very pleased with the effort. Kagiso Rabada started it all, picking up Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope in quick succession. He could have his third pretty early on as well but he bowled a No Ball to give Kyle Mayers another chance. Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi did bowl well but Rabada once again did the damage as he picked up Kyle Mayers and that started the collapse. Keshav Maharaj came out and took a Hat-Trick to put West Indies on the complete back foot. They are just 4 wickets away from a magnificent victory.

OUT! CAUGHT AT LEG SLIP! Keshav Maharaj has got a Hat-Trick! Just the second South African player to take a Hat-Trick in Tests. What a spell of bowling. This is a terrific catch as well from Wiaan Mulder here. Brilliant from South Africa. Keshav Maharaj is on a hat-trick here and Joshua Da Silva comes out into the middle, facing the hat-trick ball! A lot of field changes and a lot of thinking done, before Maharaj bowls this delivery and it looks like a short leg, backward short leg, leg slip, a slip and a silly point welcome him.

We are all set to begin Day 4! The South African players make their way out to the middle, followed by Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell. Kagiso Rabada will start with the ball.

Keshav Maharaj is there for a chat. He says that it was a good partnership between Rassie van der Dussen and Kagiso Rabada. Adds that they need to start well with the ball on Day 4. Tells that he is looking to execute his plans and he wants to pave a way for the spinners coming up in South Africa. Goes onto say that he has worked on a few things and he is evolving his game for the better.

Pitch report -  Mike Haysman is there for the pitch report. He says that Maharaj might have a role to play now. Adds that there are some cracks on this wicket and the spinner might look to bowl it outside off to the right-handers. He is joined by Curtney Ambrose who says that this looks like a dry surface and cracks are pretty wide on a good length area. Adds that they can see a variable bounce.

Phil Simmons, the West Indies' coach is up for a chat. He says that this is a pretty good wicket and they are looking forward to Day 4. Adds that the chat is that the batsmen should show character like the bowlers showed on Day 3. Goes onto say that they need to see off the new ball and then look forward from there. Adds they would look to make big partnerships. Adds that Chase is a bit sore and they are in touch with the physio.

Hello and a warm welcome to Day 4 of the second Test between West Indies and South Africa. West Indies need 309 runs to win, South Africa need 10 wickets. Both teams have a chance of winning but it seems like the visitors are the favourites to win from here but anything can happen in cricket and we can expect the unexpected. West Indies would look to build partnerships and get closer to South Africa's while the visitors would look to get some quick wickets. Join us in a while.

... Day 4, Session 1 ...

West Indies, on the other hand, did very well with the ball in hand. They managed to keep themselves in the game but it is still going to be a tough road ahead of them. They would have wanted to not lose any wickets before Stumps on Day 3 and they did just that. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell played out the 6 overs that were bowled carefully and they managed to survive till Stumps. Brathwaite though was tested on a couple of occasions by Rabada but he is still there. They still require 309 more runs to win and they have 2 whole days left to win. But it is not going to be easy to chase this down against a rampaging South African attack. Day 4 will begin 30 minutes early to make up for lost time due to rain. So do join us at 0930 local (1330 GMT) on 21st June 2021. Till then, cheers and take care.

End of an engrossing Day's play and South Africa will be pleased with the proceedings! They did not start off well, but Rassie van der Dussen and Kagiso Rabada ensured that they get a good lead on this wicket. Then their bowlers did a good job but were unrewarded. Kagiso Rabada bowled tight lines and lengths while Lungi Ngidi too was decent in his spell. Keshav Maharaj was brought on early and tried hard but they could find a wicket at the end of Day 3. Overall though, they will be happy with the effort.

West Indies would need to bat really well if they want to win this game.

... Day 3, Session 3 ...

South Africa are still on top but they have been troubled here. They lost 6 wickets in quick succession and are slightly on the back foot. Aiden Markram fell in the first over while Dean Elgar stood for a while before he departed. Keegan Petersen looked good but did not do much while Kyle Verreynne struggled. Rassie van der Dussen is looking solid and he needs to stay out there. He would want support from his partners. Join us in a while to find out what happens in the final session.

Excellent session for West Indies! They bowled excellently and they were superb. They just did not give anything away. Kemar Roach started it all, as he sent Aiden Markram packing in the first over itself and then returned to send back Dean Elgar. Kyle Mayers was the other star as he picked up three wickets in what was a lovely spell of bowling. Jason Holder too was probing and got the wicket of Quinton de Kock. All-in-all it was a very good bowling performance.

Update 1437 Local (1837 GMT) - Ohh no! It has started to rain a bit heavily now and the umpires have told the ground staff to bring the covers on. Let's just hope that it is a passing shower and we get back to playing as soon as possible. The umpires are waiting near the boundary line. And they have the umpires have decided to take early TEA.

UPDATE 0942 local (1342 GMT) Not the news you want to hear. But the rain has started to pour at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, St Lucia. The covers are also on. We might have a delayed start. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope we get some action soon.

We are back for the final session. The South African players make their way out to the middle and they are followed by Blackwood and Hope who will resume their innings. Maharaj to bowl.

... Day 2, Session 3 ...

Windies need a partnership. Hope is set and Blackwood needs to hang in there. They are another 242 runs away and if they do not get a partnership, it's going to be tough for them to get back into the game. More of the same is what South Africa will want. Will we see a fightback?

4 bowlers bowled for the visitors in this session and all got a wicket at least. It was Rabada who started things off as he dismissed Brathwaite on the very first ball. Powell and Chase did not last long. Mayers and Hope did start to build a stand but Maharaj then got the breakthrough.

South Africa tired their best to sneak in another over. Maharaj was all set and had his cap off but the umpire's push the bails off and they walk off for Tea. Don't blame the visitors to try and bowl one more, this has been an outstanding session for them.

OUT! There is a clear spike on Ultra Edge and what a review that turns out to be. The loud cheer as soon as the spike was shown by the South Africans showed how pleased they were with the decision to review it. A wicket on the first ball and it is the worst possible start for the hosts. This is a delivery down the leg side. A loosener. Brathwaite looks to flick it, there is a noise as it passes the glove. De Kock puts in a loud appeal. Rabada is not that interested. Elgar reviews right at the as de Kock convinces him to do so and replays show that it is off the glove.

10 am local (1400 GMT) - GOOD NEWS! The inspection is done and we due for a start at 10.30 pm local (1430 GMT)! Pad up, folks.

We have some sad news to begin with! The start of play on Day 2 has been delayed as there is some rain around. An inspection will be held at 1000 local.

Windies on the other hand, will look for wickets quickly. The second new ball is available and if they can make use of it, they can surely keep the visitors to under 250. An important first session awaits...

A partnership though, a good stand can see the tide completely into their favor. They would be hoping to get over the 300-run mark. De Kock is set and Mulder has started well. A lot will depend on the two if they are to cross that score as there is not a lot of batting to come.

218 for 5 at Stumps on Day 1! South Africa with the edge? Windies ahead or evens-stevens? Quite difficult to say but judging by how the track played and if the first Test is anything to go by, the visitors surely have their noses ahead but by just.

... Day 2, Session 1 ...

Now South Africa will hope these two can continue and take them past 300. Windies will want to not let them go above that mark. They do have the option to take the second new ball so one probably assumes they would take it the first thing on Saturday and look to make early inroads. Do join us for all the action. Till then, take care and goodbye!

The Windies bowled decently but they could have used the conditions a lot better. There were way too many harmless deliveries. Yes, there were a lot of them which went past the outside edge but they did lack discipline. Gabriel was probably the pick. Roach, Mayers and Seales took one each. Holder bowled brilliantly but just did not have luck on his side.

Elgar and Kyle got their side to safer shores with a very good stand. Elgar went onto score a half ton but Kyle did not make most of the start he got. De Kock then continued his good form and he along with Elgar added another 50-run stand before Dean fell 23 short of a ton. Those three though have ensured the visitors finish Day 1 slightly ahead.

End of an attritional day of Test cricket. It all started with rain delaying the start of play. Once the showers passed away, it was the Windies who won the toss and elected to bowl. They started off brilliantly by getting three wickets quickly. The first session belonged to them easily but after that, it was all South Africa.

The umpire's are having a chat and they are going off! That should be and is STUMPS ON DAY 1!

... Day 1, Session 3 ...

A good session for South Africa! Both Elgar and Kyle played solidly at the start. They took their side to safer shores with a good stand. Elgar got to his half ton but Kyle was dismissed just before the break! The game is quite even at the moment but Windies will have to break the current partnership quickly or de Kock can take the game away from them quickly. An important session awaits.

... Day 1, Session 2 ...

It’s been tough going for South Africa. Their batters have struggled. They are on the back foot at the moment but they would know, the longer they stay in the easier it is going to be. Dean Elgar and Kyle Verreynne have done well to hang in there but they need to cash in. Can they do so? We will find out after the break.

A solid session from the Windies. They will be pretty pleased after electing to bowl. Their pacers were excellent. They got the ball to swing and have gotten three wickets in it. Also, they have made it very difficult for the visitors to score. More of the same is what they would want after the break.

Update - 0926 local (1326 GMT) - We should have had the toss by now but guess what? IT IS RAINING! It seems the rain gods have no mercy on men's cricket today. The forecast is also not that promising. Fingers crossed for now.

A clinical performance in the first Test saw the visitors take a 1-0 lead in the series. They just need to avoid a defeat in this game if they are to win the series. Windies on the other hand, need a win, however, judging by the first game, they need to be a lot better than they were if they are to even challenge the away side. Will there be an even contest between bat and ball this time? Toss and teams in a bit...
