Sri Lanka top order failed to stay at the crease for long. But Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva showed great resistance and determination in the middle. However, Dhananjaya de Silva could not carry on till the end and he perished just before the Tea break. Charith Asalanka came in and fired a few lusty blows and raced away to 20 runs in just 7 balls. They will try to build a partnership here to play till the end of the day. Sri Lanka will need a miracle to save this Test match. An intriguing session is coming up shortly. ICC WOMEN'S CRICKET WORLD CUP UPDATE - India Women are in a commanding position for now. After 25 overs Pakistan Women have scored 78 runs but have lost five wickets. They need 167 more runs from the remaining 25 overs. India's veteran bowler Jhulan Goswami has grabbed two wickets and has been very economical as well so far. A good chance for India Women to begin their World Cup campaign with a victory.

The first hour of the session, Sri Lanka did show some grit and determination, with Nissanka and Asalanka scoring runs. But once Asalanka perished, wickets just started to tumble for them. While Nissanka scored a half-century but he was stranded at the other end. He was the lone warrior for Sri Lanka, but he had no partners with him. They have lost one wicket already while following-on and they need a special effort to save this Test match now. A disappointing session for Sri Lanka and let's see how things pan out in the afternoon session. What a session this has been for India! They have taken 7 wickets and are bossing this game now with just 9 Sri Lankan wickets remaining and Lankans are still 390 runs behind. The session started with Nissanka and Charith Asalanka notching up a fifty partnership and it was all looking stable for Sri Lanka. However, the loss of Charith Asalanka's wicket created panic, and the Sri Lankan batting line-up just crumbled. Indian bowlers were fantastic with both spinners and seamers bowling brilliantly in the tandem and with Sir Jadeja taking a five-wicket-haul India ended with a 400 run lead in the first innings. Then, it was a brief period before Lunch that Lankan batters had to negotiate but Lahiru Thirimanne departed early and India would look to continue their domination in the afternoon session.

ICC WOMEN'S CRICKET WORLD CUP UPDATE- Meanwhile, India Women are reeling at 134/6 after 37 overs against Pakistan Women in their opening World Cup game. It looks tough for India from hereon, however, Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana are more than capable with the bat and India would be looking to reach at least 200 from here. Pakistan Women, on the other hand, are in with a great chance to beat their arch-rivals and the game might get very interesting if India manages to put a decent score on the board.

Sir  Ravindra Jadeja was the stand-out player for India, he scored an unbeaten 175 and guided India to a total of 574. After a scintillating batting performance, India continued their dominance with the ball and sent back four Sri Lankan batters. They will be hoping they can grab early wickets in the first session and put the visitors under immense pressure. While Sri Lanka will need a big partnership to get them out of trouble. Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka are the players who will resume their batting and will want to remain at the crease and give a tough fight. An interesting first session coming up. Stay tuned.

The visitors might be on the back foot but they are not out of the game just yet, they will be coming into Day 3 hoping they can put up a healthy partnership. Although it’s only going to get tougher for them as we can expect the ball to turn more on this pitch. Another thrilling day of Test cricket awaits us.

Ravindra Jadeja, the star of the day is down for the chat. He says that he is feeling very good. Mentions that on Day 1, Pant was taking the bowlers on, and he was just enjoying his batting from the other end. States that he was staying calm in the middle, and he was just trying to build a partnership. Informs that he always enjoys batting and bowling with Ashwin. Adds that as the game progresses the ball might turn more.

Sri Lanka were pretty flat with the ball earlier in the day and that made life difficult for their batters in this final session. The quality of the Indian bowling attack challenged them regularly, though Sri Lankan openers showed a great fight starting off in a solid manner, they could not carry on and eventually perished. Sri Lanka lost four wickets at the end and that will hurt them going into Day 3. Skipper, Dimuth Karunaratne and Mathews were looking quite good while they were in the middle but with both the senior batters back into the hut, now it is upto the young guns from Sri Lanka to bail them out. Overall, a perfect day for India and Sri Lanka would need a lot of things to go their way on Day 3 to stay in this game.

Indian bowlers had a luxury of a big score under their belt. However, they still needed to bowl well to put pressure on the opposition's batting lineup and Indian bowlers showed their class yet again. The pitch had some help for the bowlers but not much. However, all the bowlers showed tremendous discipline and fire to put pressure on the Lankan batters on a consistent basis. Ashwin broke the opening stand and after that, Jadeja and Bumrah with their superb spell put the pressure on, and eventually, India got four wickets in the session. Especially the wicket of Mathews was key and it is going to be a tough task for the Lankans on Day 3 against a quality Indian bowling attack. Earlier, the foundation was led by the batters with Jadeja smashing a career-best 175 to take India to a big total and that meant that Sri Lanka were always behind the 8-ball coming into this final session.

This has been a pretty intense session of Test cricket! India came hard at Sri Lanka throughout the session but Lankans were also upto the task and fought with great character for the most part of this session. However, they lost four wickets in this session as the quality of Indian bowlers finally got the better of them and with a trail of 466, India are in a driver’s seat at the end of Day 2. Sri Lanka need a pretty special effort on Day 3 to stop India here. The late Shane Warne has called Jadeja a 'Rockstar' during Jadeja's early days and he has surely given a fitting tribute to the great spinner with his superb all-round performance on Day 2.

Drinks! This has been a solid start from the Lankan openers! They have negotiated the spin threat quite well so far and have mixed caution with agression quite wonderfully. However, they need to keep their concentration up as another tough passage of play awaits them.
