FOUR! Top shot! Short of a length and outside off. Max O'Dowd gets on top of the bounce and thumps it through cover-point for a boundary.

A run out appeal has been taken upstairs as Paul Stirling clips the bails off. The big screen shows the replay and it shows Ben Cooper is well short of his crease!

OUT! RUN OUT What just happened there? Stirling bowls a loopy ball, on the pads. Ben Cooper tucks it to short fine leg. Max O'Dowd takes off for a single but Ben Cooper is too late to respond. Simi Singh collects the ball and throws it at the bowler's end. Paul Stirling collects the ball and whips the bails off. But Paul Stirling dislodged one of the bails on his own before collecting the ball. The third umpire is called and luckily for Ireland, the second bail was whipped off with the ball in his palms. Ben Cooper will have to walk back to the pavilion. An early blow for Netherlands!

We are all set for the action. Both the teams stride out to the middle for their respective national anthems. It will be Netherlands national anthem first, followed by Ireland's. Done with the proceedings, it is time for the action to start as Max O'Dowd and Ben Cooper are the openers for Netherlands. Paul Stirling to start with the ball. Here we go...

Andy Balbirnie, the skipper of Ireland, says that he's not too disappointed with bowling first and the pitch will probably stay the same over 40 overs. Adds that the first game of the tournament is important, they are excited for it. Mentions the middle order is inexperienced but they are expressive and will look to play their shots.

Pieter Seelaar, the skipper of Netherlands, says they are going to bat first. Says that the wicket is good to bat on and they want to get some runs on the board and put Ireland under pressure. Adds that they are in Dubai for a while and have trained here. Tells that many players are coming into the team after playing county cricket.

Ireland failed to qualify for Super 10 in the 2016 T20 World Cup but this time under the leadership of Andy Balbirnie, the squad looks much stronger and better. The Irish team has evolved as a team in the last few years and have some experienced pros such as Paul Stirling, George Dockrell, Andy Balbirnie, and Kevin O'Brien. They also have a few young guns in their squad who possess a better understanding of the game as far as the shortest format is concerned. Ireland have not won a T20 World Cup game against Netherlands so far and they would be keen to get a win here. Will they be able to do so? We will find out. Many fans will remember how the Dutch side famously chased a target of 190 in just 13.5 overs in the 2014 T20 World Cup qualifying round and booked themselves a place in the Super 10. The Dutch team leads the head-to-head record by 2-0 against Ireland in T20 World Cup matches as well. They also won the 2019 T20 World Cup qualifiers in the UAE which laid their path to this tournament. They have a good unit of players who can be very effective and have the ability to catch teams off-guard, especially in the T20 format.

The T20 World Cup has started with a bang with Oman and Scotland getting first hand on victory in Group B and now it's time for Group A match where Ireland and Netherlands are set to lock horns in Match 3 of the T20 World Cup qualifiers. Ireland played two warm-up matches before heading into this fixture and won both of them. While Netherlands started the warm-up matches with a hefty defeat at the hands of Scotland but bounced back with a win against Oman. Both teams would look to carry forward the winning momentum and kickstart their campaign on a winning note. On that note, welcome to the coverage.
