Netherlands, on the other hand, are also quite an experienced unit. The presence of players like Roelof van der Merwe, Colin Ackermann and a few others with experience of playing in South African conditions makes them quite a formidable side. They have some proven performers like Max O'Dowd and Pieter Seelaar and bowlers like Fred Klaassen and Viv Kingma are more than capable to make use of any help on offer from the deck. Overall, Netherlands definitely has the firepower and experience to challenge Proteas but the hosts iwill still be the favourites going into this game. Will they live up to this favourite tag? South Africa are without their skipper Temba Bavuma and plenty of their other star players but they still have a good mix of experience and youth in their squad. The batting looks strong with Janneman Malan and Reeza Hendricks at the top of the order and David Miller in the middle. While their spin bowling stocks consist of Tabraiz Shamsi and the captain for this series, Keshav Maharaj. The seam bowling looks a little short of experience but the presence of seam bowling allrounders like Dwaine Pretorius, Andile Phehlukwayo makes them quite a balanced unit. Wayne Parnell is making a national comeback after four years and his presence will boost the attack further.

Hello and welcome to the first ODI between South Africa and the Netherlands. The crucial World Cup Super League points are up for grabs and both these teams will be looking to extract as many points from this series as possible. South Africa are currently ranked 9th on that table and going by their present rank, they are not among the sides to qualify directly for the 2023 World Cup. But things could change quite quickly and they can climb to the number 3 spot if they beat Netherlands in all three ODIs. But Netherlands are no pushovers and have plenty of experience and quality on their side. Netherlands will also be looking to climb up the ladder on that points table and will be eager to prove a point by beating a full member at their home. Will they challenge Proteas? Or will South Africa dominate?
