Commentary
Now this is not going to be an easy task but not an impossible one too. The wicket is a good one to bat on but you need to apply yourself. Can Lanka do so? South Africa on the other hand, would hope to make use of the new ball. Join us for the reply in a bit.
When the day began, it seemed Lanka would be chasing over 400 as Stubbs and Bavuma were batting brilliantly but one wicket got about a procession. At one time it seemed, The lead would not cross 300 but credit to the lower order who have managed to add handy runs and taken the lead close to 350.
South Africa did well after the break! They came out, batted with intent, scored some quick runs and have taken their lead very close to 350. Overall though, it is Lanka who have dominated the day so far and it is that man, Prabath Jayasuriya who is leading them off the field, the star for them.

Commentary
Sri Lanka will be disappointed with the lower order! The likes of Mathews and Nissanka got them into a good position but little contributions from the lower order has seen them being bowled out for less than what the hosts have scored. Still the though, the lead isn't a big one and they'll look to take early wickets now to put the hosts under pressure. South Africa on the other hand, will look to stay ahead in the game.
South Africa have managed to take a slender lead then! Their bowlers have done really well as at one stage, it was Sri Lanka who seemed like would take the lead. When Mathews was batting, they were in the ascendancy but Paterson bowled a brilliant spell and bagged a fifer. He was well supported by the others. All the bowlers except Markram got a wicket at least.

Commentary
Sri Lanka pulled things back later in the day with the wickets of Ryan Rickelton and Marco Jansen. They started Day 2 well with another wicket. It felt like they'll clean the tail quickly but Verreynne had other ideas. He played well with Rabada to bring up his century and have put his team in a very comfortable position here. Sri Lanka have a tricky period to play before Lunch, can they go unhurt?
This is a kind of body blow to Sri Lanka who have allowed the tail wag along with Verreynne who have scored a magnificent century to put his team on the front foot. Sri Lanka ended Day 1 on 269 but have allowed South Africa to score another 100 odd runs here which could make a big difference. It was all about Ryan Rickelton's century for South Africa. His partnership along with Bavuma was vital.

South Africa make progress in the World Test Championship table while the loss has dampened Lanka's hope of making the finals. Temba Bavuma is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES! He says it is good to be back, it was frustrating but now he enjoys being out there. Mentions he’s happy he got an opportunity and he did well. States Durban was difficult but he tried to bat with intent and it came off well. Adds it is rare when the game goes till the 5th day and it was in the balance for a lot of time and credit to Lanka for the way they went about their business. Dhananjaya de Silva says this game was tight, the team fought hard but they weren’t good enough to come out on top. States the conditions are different but the bowling attack was good, even the spinners did really well. At the end of Day 4, Sri Lanka lost five wickets and a lot of hope as well but the partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis in the final session showed something special was building up for the visitors. However, this wasn't the case as South Africa got the duo in no time and cleaned up the tail by keeping things very simple. Keshav Maharaj showed his experience on a flat pitch and ended with his 10th five-fer in Test cricket.
Sri Lanka in reply batted really well as compared to their poor outing in the first match. The top five made massive contributions and ended just 30 shy of the hosts first innings score. Dane Paterson was the pick of the lot as he picked up five wickets. The onus was on the hosts' side and once again, in the second innings South Africa's batting compartment stepped up. Prabath Jayasuriya scalped five wickets but Sri Lanka had a mountain to climb as they needed more than 300 runs to win in the fourth innings which is never easy while touring a country which possesses a lot of threat with the ball.
It was a complete performance from South Africa! After winning the toss, South Africa posted more than 350 thanks to the centuries from Ryan Rickelton and Kyle Verreynne. The former played well along with Bavuma but it was Kyle Verreynne's innings with the tail which made a whole lot of difference to the score. Sri Lanka had to grind hard to take wickets and the pace trio took 9 wickets together.
So, South Africa needed just over an hour to clean up the Lankan team. The pressure was on Sri Lanka from the morning. They were short of batters and the likes of Dhananjaya de Silva and Mendis were send back to hut in the space of 3 overs. After that, it was just a procession. South Africa win the series 2-0.

Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis restored the Lankan team's hope by posting a solid partnership and ending Day 4 on high. It is the last known batting pair Sri Lanka and they are still 143 runs away from levelling the series.

Now this is not going to be an easy task but not an impossible one too. The wicket is a good one to bat on but you need to apply yourself. Can Lanka do so? South Africa on the other hand, would hope to make use of the new ball. Join us for the reply in a bit.
When the day began, it seemed Lanka would be chasing over 400 as Stubbs and Bavuma were batting brilliantly but one wicket got about a procession. At one time it seemed, The lead would not cross 300 but credit to the lower order who have managed to add handy runs and taken the lead close to 350.
South Africa did well after the break! They came out, batted with intent, scored some quick runs and have taken their lead very close to 350. Overall though, it is Lanka who have dominated the day so far and it is that man, Prabath Jayasuriya who is leading them off the field, the star for them.

Commentary
Sri Lanka will be disappointed with the lower order! The likes of Mathews and Nissanka got them into a good position but little contributions from the lower order has seen them being bowled out for less than what the hosts have scored. Still the though, the lead isn't a big one and they'll look to take early wickets now to put the hosts under pressure. South Africa on the other hand, will look to stay ahead in the game.
South Africa have managed to take a slender lead then! Their bowlers have done really well as at one stage, it was Sri Lanka who seemed like would take the lead. When Mathews was batting, they were in the ascendancy but Paterson bowled a brilliant spell and bagged a fifer. He was well supported by the others. All the bowlers except Markram got a wicket at least.

Although Sri Lanka lost five wickets in the session, but won't be that disappointed. They have got the deficit down to 40 runs however just have two wickets in hand. A fantastic session for South Africa and they'll be happy with how they have bowled! They came with a plan and bowled accordingly. The pitch has flattened out a bit and South Africa have to grind hard for wickets. They were not at their best with the ball but we could see a much better, aggressive stint from the Proteas. Kagiso Rabada was the only one who troubled the batters. Dane Paterson looked sharp late in the day but nothing apart from that. Some fine batting performances from the Lankan batters have seen them cut the deficit close to 100. It was a much improved batting performance from them. Sanath Jayasuriya, the head coach of Sri Lanka was clearly happy after the end of the day's play. The openers gave a steady start but it was the partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Dinesh Chandimal that channelled the tide towards the visitors. Sri Lanka have plenty of batting in the bank and with Angelo Mathews and Kamindu Mendis well set, they'll hope to post a big second innings score.

South Africa bowled well in patches! The wicket, apart from when the ball was new didn’t offer a lot but they just weren’t at their best with the cherry. They’ll need to hit the rights line and lengths starting Day 3 and hope to pick a few early wickets or they’ll could well end up conceding a lead. Earlier, it was Kyle Verreynne's ton that set the Proteas score above 350. He batted well along with the pair but Sri Lanka have replied on a good note as well. Sri Lanka have shown great character and determination this time around with the bat! Yes, the conditions are not as challenging as the first game but credit to their batters to fight back the way they have. The openers got them off to a decent start, Dimuth Karunaratne fell but it was the partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Dinesh Chandimal which has put them in a good position. Both have been dismissed, Nissanka was unlucky not to get to his ton but Angelo Mathews and Kamindu Mendis have started well and Lanka will hope they can continue the good work as they still trail by over 116 runs.

Sri Lanka lost Dimuth Karunaratne but Chandimal have showed solid composure to bat through and end the session on a high. South Africa have been decent with the ball. Nissanka was given a lifeline in the slip cordon. Apart from that, they were okay with the ball. They need to get more tighter to the stumps we feel. Commentary
Sri Lanka pulled things back later in the day with the wickets of Ryan Rickelton and Marco Jansen. They started Day 2 well with another wicket. It felt like they'll clean the tail quickly but Verreynne had other ideas. He played well with Rabada to bring up his century and have put his team in a very comfortable position here. Sri Lanka have a tricky period to play before Lunch, can they go unhurt?
This is a kind of body blow to Sri Lanka who have allowed the tail wag along with Verreynne who have scored a magnificent century to put his team on the front foot. Sri Lanka ended Day 1 on 269 but have allowed South Africa to score another 100 odd runs here which could make a big difference. It was all about Ryan Rickelton's century for South Africa. His partnership along with Bavuma was vital.

TEA! So, despite the wicket of Temba Bavuma, this session still belongs to the hosts. Temba Bavuma and Ryan Rickelton continued the good work and added quite a few valuable runs to the board. The two together added 133 runs with both notching up their respective fifties. The Lankan spinners were not able to produce any success and Dhananjaya de Silva turned back to his seamers for a breakthrough. The pacers used the same trick as they did in the first Test match. They used bouncers against Temba Bavuma and it worked in their favour. South Africa have lost their captain but there is still plenty of batting left. Tristan Stubbs poked a delivery that he could have left alone. South Africa were three down inside fifty runs but they look in a decent position now with Rickelton and Bavuma at the top of the action. The Lankan seamers have bowled well, Kumara in particular and will hope for a similar kind of effort in the second session. South Africa make progress in the World Test Championship table while the loss has dampened Lanka's hope of making the finals. Temba Bavuma is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES! He says it is good to be back, it was frustrating but now he enjoys being out there. Mentions he’s happy he got an opportunity and he did well. States Durban was difficult but he tried to bat with intent and it came off well. Adds it is rare when the game goes till the 5th day and it was in the balance for a lot of time and credit to Lanka for the way they went about their business. Ends by saying the batters were really good and everybody chipped in when needed and the WTC table looks good now and he hopes they can continue the good work.
Dhananjaya de Silva says this game was tight, the team fought hard but they weren’t good enough to come out on top. States the conditions are different but the bowling attack was good, even the spinners did really well. Ends by saying they played well but the result wasn’t on their side and he hopes they can keep getting better and he’s looking forward to the series against Australia.
The Player of the Match, Dane Paterson says he feels great but it was a team effort and he’s very happy for his side. Mentions it is a very good feeling and he’s very happy they won the game. Adds he loves bowling and he enjoys putting in the work. Ends by saying he didn’t notice he got three in the over but the emotions are sinking in now and he hopes they can continue to do well.

At the end of Day 4, Sri Lanka lost five wickets and a lot of hope as well but the partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis in the final session showed something special was building up for the visitors. However, this wasn't the case as South Africa got the duo in no time and cleaned up the tail by keeping things very simple. Keshav Maharaj showed his experience on a flat pitch and ended with his 10th five-fer in Test cricket.
Sri Lanka in reply batted really well as compared to their poor outing in the first match. The top five made massive contributions and ended just 30 shy of the hosts first innings score. Dane Paterson was the pick of the lot as he picked up five wickets. The onus was on the hosts' side and once again, in the second innings South Africa's batting compartment stepped up. Prabath Jayasuriya scalped five wickets but Sri Lanka had a mountain to climb as they needed more than 300 runs to win in the fourth innings which is never easy while touring a country which possesses a lot of threat with the ball.
It was a complete performance from South Africa! After winning the toss, South Africa posted more than 350 thanks to the centuries from Ryan Rickelton and Kyle Verreynne. The former played well along with Bavuma but it was Kyle Verreynne's innings with the tail which made a whole lot of difference to the score. Sri Lanka had to grind hard to take wickets and the pace trio took 9 wickets together.
So, South Africa needed just over an hour to clean up the Lankan team. The pressure was on Sri Lanka from the morning. They were short of batters and the likes of Dhananjaya de Silva and Mendis were send back to hut in the space of 3 overs. After that, it was just a procession. South Africa win the series 2-0.
